That makes you sound like a selfish *****? Pretty far from it. The sport goes on with or without fighters. Truth be told, Lacy was an exciting fighter when he burst onto the scene but let's not mistake being exciting for being elite. There were more than enough fighters capable of producing intriguing matchups whether Lacy was going to be around or not.

Before I watched RJ vs Lacy I rewatched Lacy vs Mendoza. Lacy was damn lucky to squeak out a win against a C level opponent like Mendoza. Lacy is that bad.

Lacy just was never that good. Even pre-Calzaghe. Calzaghe just proved that Lacy can't hang with top tier fighters who have good speed and can box.

Lacy only fights one way, and if the other guy isn't going to play Lacy's stand and slug game, he's done.

Yeah, I hate to jump on a guy when he's down but a lot of us let Showtime's constant hyping of Lacy cloud our judgement regarding his abilities as a fighter. The signs were there. Look no further than the Sheika fight. No disrespect to Omar but a so-called "top" fighter should not have to labor to victory against a guy like him.

The only reason people are asking the question "was lacy really just that bad?" is because originally he was just another big hype job.

He is without question a C level fighter himself, and always was.

Not at all, you are right! But all Lacys wins before Calz, he was hyped sky high in medias and by people on boxingforums, there is no doubt that must have effected himself! Just about everyone said he was gonna steamroll over JC.. But instead he got humilliated in the worst way, and same people who hyped him turned their back on him, and calling him ****! Things like that can only ruin a mans confidence for good, plus i think Lacy is a fighter who needs to be backed up a bit to get back on track.. but he never got that, and then the injury came.. No, the man is destroyed for good as a fighter, we will never find out how good he really was as long nobody cant give Calz any credit either!

This fight was always about which fighter would be confident enough to assert themselves. The other would inevitably wilt.

That's how he was rated going against Calzaghe, no one said he's multi dimensional. Everyone knew he's one dimensional but that aggressive one dimension was looked to be too much for the aging Calzaghe who was 35 at the time and all were proven wrong. This was a test of how affective his aggression will be and many thought he will break Calzaghe down with his power.

Fact is, Calzaghe proved everyone stupid and wrong with what HE DID IN THE RING, not because of how "bad" Lacy was or any of that crap. If it was because of that and not what Calzaghe did then Calzaghe would have dropped like Pemberton did.
