Roy Williams in today's heavyweight division

    This is my point. He was that type fighter and always would be. All we can do is take him within the context in which we know him and apply that to how we think he would do today.

    In short today he would still be a big strong underachiever. Period. You can argue that todays HW's are not as good as they were in the 60s and 70s, and I would agree, but the best are still better than many of the guys Williams lost to.

    No one said "If Roy Williams had a different mental makeup, better skills, no personal problems, motivation, etc. how would he do today" That kind of conjecture is beyond fantasy because that wouldnt be Roy Williams, that would be some other fighter who might have achieved more in his own time. Roy didnt, the only thing we have to go on his rather limited achievements and the heresay of more talented sparring partners.
