He needs to listen to his own commentary any time he thinks about signing for another fight, ****ed up part is he needed that advice 7-8 years ago.
Yeah, I don't think there is anything wrong with Roy's speech itself...Paul Williams sounds more punch drunk than Roy...so does SSM.
RJJ is as articulate as Foreman imo. Still like the latter a bit better but I´m sure I´ll warm up to Roy going foreward.
I don't think Paul Williams is really slurring. He just doesn't have much in the way of, uh, "book smarts", if yaknowwhatimean.
To me there is a difference in Paul Williams and Roy Jones. Roy gets taken out quick. That doesn't cause the type of damage that a long sustained beating does. The types of fights that really hurt fighters is the kind where they just take flush shot after flush shot, but refuse to quit and don't get knocked out... at least not early. It is that long, sustained punishment that really takes its toll. Not that there aren't any fighters who get hurt or killed from one shot... because it has happened.... but it is beatings like the one that Williams took that are much more likely to change the rest of a person's life. Don't get me wrong... Roy should retire. He doesn't need to take the punishment that he has taken either and he doesn't need to prove anything else in the sport. However, it's a different story than watching a fight where you are basically hoping and praying that a fighters corner stops the fight, yet round after round they keep taking flush shots and looking worse and worse physically. Paul looked and spoke horribly after the fight.
I'm good mate :good Working like a madman lately. Hope all is well with you too. Btw, absolutely horrible decision, eh :verysad And I was stunned listening to Roy say those things during the fight.
I thought of this too while listening to Roy. It's a good point. Still, Jones is in no place to give anyone else advice about retiring.
To me it shows that Roy Jones the Commentator is willing to speak truth about what he's seeing in the ring. Speaks to RJJ's professionalism. The problem is that Roy Jones the Fighter still hasn't accepted that reality for himself.
Roy rarely got hit with the same shots like that over and over and over. Roy was chinny but he never took sustained beatings like Williams did.
