Round 8 Villa is repelling the now heightened offense from the Colombian, whose sense of urgency must have been inflamed with his corner telling him that he now must get a KO. Villa is catching left hooks with a quick raising of his right arm to deflect. Villa is landing some nice southpaw 1-2s now, backing Olea into the ropes, taking charge of the middle of the ring. Doubling up on the accurate left hand, Villa takes out the last bit of wind from Olea's sails by driving him into the ropes and discourages a final big flurry before the bell. 10-9 Villa 80-72 Villa
Sharp performance. Olea came in with a typical Colombian banger's record but Villa played matador successfully enough to shut him down completely, and really never tasted a full-on power shot.
This kid lost to Shakur Stevenson in the amateurs and his biggest goal in the pros, even more so than a world title, is to get him in the ring and avenge himself.
Villa can go and celebrate this dominant shutout victory in style on Monday night. Why must he wait an entire day, you ask? Because he's currently 20...but his birthday is 4/16.
