    If the Carter that fought Benton showed up its a very tough call. I may lean ever so slightly to Valdez.

    Valdez for me, the man was a brute when at his best. Carter was a hard ******* who wouldn't lie down and had real power but his style wouldn't have served him well against Valdez imo.

    Carter really was not a consistent fighter maybe he got lucky..so I 'll take Valdez

    I agree. With some of the responses in this thread I have a hard time believing many have seen a Carter fight outside of the Tiger bout. The Benton fight truly was a superb showing. Not to mention those awesome one round blitzes of Emile Griffith and Florentino Fernandez. I think Valdez was slightly more well-rounded and a bit more mobile, but this truly is a pick 'em fight for me.

    Valdez would take Carter by split decision in a war, with Rodrigo's class over coming Ruben late in the fight.
