Ruben Castillo has passed away, aged 68. Castillo was a great, who fought the greats. But it wasn't until he had gone 43-0 with 22 knockouts, that he was finally rewarded with his first world title fight. He had 4 championship fights against, if you don't mind, Hall of Famers Salvador Sánchez, Alexis Argüello, and Julio César Chávez, as well Juan Laporte. Castillo's final CV read 67-10-2 but he suffered most of his losses late in his career, amongst his 3 comebacks.
elite operator. he just had the misfortune of operating alongside generational talent. rest in peace, champ.
It's always weird to thumb up posts like these. Because you're normally thumbing up the recognition of the person, not going "Oh, thank God, he's finally dead!" But will the aliens understand that when they read all our old posts and see who thumbed up what? I don't know.
RIP Champ Guy was severely underrated and deserves more appreciation. A quality fighter with great skills who wasn't afraid of anyone. He was also a good boxing commentator back then as well.
