The same things were said with Hatton vs Floyd. But Cortez didn't let Hatton really work on the inside, when everyone knew Hatton was a brawler. in this case Guerrero has the reach and height to actually throw a jab from distance. We'll have to revisit this statement about the jab after the fight. when people fight Floyd, they dream big about a KO. but really if you want to win rounds against Floyd you need to use the jab, mix in hooks, and use uppers in close. If you don't do that, you have to bank on landing a lucky shot that hurts Floyd, which doesn't happen to often. And even when it happens, there's still a chance that Floyd shakes it off and wins the rest of the rounds, like he did against Mosley. You really need to fight a complete fight if you want to beat Floyd. Gimmicks don't work against Floyd.

I doubt Floyd pays too much attention to Guerrero saying he's not going to use the jab. even if he heard it, i doubt it will change the way Floyd fights. He's still going to look for counter punch opportunities and try to set up the right hand. Guerrero should try to think of ways to land combinations on Floyd. A jab can sometimes set up the bigger punches.

Of course opponents always seem to miss the fact that Floyd is ecxeptionally good at gighting in the inside out of that philly shell.

Floyd is like a boxing computer, Robert will need the jab just to make some progress

Problem with the jab from the southpaw stance is, Mayweather uses it as a trigger to unleash the straight right. Once Mayweather finds a home for the right, it is game over. If he uses the jab, it will have to be a solid jab, doubled up, and followed with the straight left and right hook. If Guerrero starts throwing a lazy jab to the shoulder/forearm. He will be countered with ease.

It's probably BS. You shouldn't throw away any tool against Floyd. But I will say that the southpaw jab doesn't align that well with someone in the philly shell. It's not the same as Oscar with an orthodox jab splitting the guard. I think he'll use it as a range-finder/distraction while trying to land the straight left.

If Robert did double the jab, that may take away Floyd pull counter.

He doesn't often pull-counter southpaws anyway, the alignment is different. He throws left hooks over them after closing the distance.
