He was arguably one of the best puncher ever at bantamweight and rated number 36 all time by Burt Sugar. how does he stack up against his division in a Marquez, Barrera, Morales, and Pac era? H2H what results would you expect? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq4N8MT7F50[/ame]
I think MAB has the best chance out of the lot. Good technical boxer who could hold his own for breif spells when needed to fight it out. Overral, I think marquez is flat out not good enough. Morales is too hittable Pac was too rough at the point, and Olivares would KO him.
i had the concern that Barrera's skill would be an issue... however, if you get him angry he could make a mistake... I see it Olivares>Barrera>Morales>Pac
Yeh. But syaing that Olivares is a great boxer aswell when he did look to box. People forget that. I actually thought Barrera was fairly controlled in the heat of battle.
Olivares can box... definitely an offensive oriented relentless boxer puncher ... I think it would have been a brutal fight and close
I think he'd beat them all, they would be great fights but as long as he came in well trained which isn't a guarantee by assuming he does he'll win.
:good Agreed. He would have to be at 100% to beat all of them, and with Olivares that was no guarantee, but he is definitely capable beating all of them.
Its pretty much a given Ruben is going to party himself out of a contention for one or two fights...but perhaps he would change his ways knowing that a loss in this era has a greater impact then when he was fighting. At his best he beats them all...but I actually feel Pac at featherweight probably has the best chance to knock him off.
Ya know, I think Rockabye Rubin boxed better then Barrera when he trained to do so. I'm not sure which approach he would take in a fight with him but I'll give the edge in a close one to Olivares, and he takes the other bouts as well.
Even with Morales having that natural size advantage, i just see Olivares pushing him back too much, getting under his chin and unleashing the type of hooks that even Barrera couldn't in the same style of winning effort (in their first bout). A fight with Barrera would be very exciting also, but i've got Olivares still. Actually all of these fights would be ****ing unreal, imagine the exchange of combos with Marquez! Pacquiao definitely gives the ultimate battle imo, but at these weights Olivares might still be the master in that one.
