Fair enough, it was in Castillos home town so i can see why the rioting started as it was a close fight. Although i did think Rose won.

Castillo was a very good fighter in his own right.

Neither ducked the other, it was simply the WBC vs WBA politics of the day. Unifications were difficult to come by. I can't quite remember if they were promoted by opposing factions either.

 

From what I've seen of Olivares' fights, the Inglewood Forum seems pretty much a home crowd for Mexican fighters.

 

Not just the Olivares fights try all the fights at the forum about 75% Mexican and Mex/American.

Rose vs Castillo was no robbery.Castillo had the bigger rounds, but Rose won more and actually finished the stronger of the two over the last third.For what it's worth the American commentator(can't remember who it was) didn't seem to have any issue with the decision either.

I could see someone thinking it was very close, and no doubt it seemed that way if you were in the crowd, but i think the Castillo fans were letting their heart override their head in this one.

I had it Rose by two, his big finish did seal it.

Talking about the Rose Castillo fight. You've got to give Rose credit for winning and defending his title on the road, Joe Medel in a non title fight as champ as well.
