    Gomez super Bantam, Olivares Bantam.

Its hard to pick against Gomez at 122 given his record at that weight.

Olivares was too inconsistent above bantam while Gomez was at his best at 122,i cant see Olivares lasting the distance.

The Gomez of the Zarate shellacking would be a nightmare for Ruben.

Ruben of the Rose and Rudkin fights would be hell to deal with for Gomez aswell.

Olivares could be inconsistent but he was more often brilliant...when fit and focused he was just about as destructive as you will see a fighter.

I do pick Gomez to win and stop Ruben but he isnt going to do it as easily as some people are predicting here...not against the very best we saw from Olivares.

Couldn't agree more; Ruben is one of the only fighters apart from Jofre who I would give a chance of beating Gomez at 122, even if Gomez is the likely victor by stoppage. Don't think for one minute that Olivares couldn't lay Gomez or anyone between bantam and superfeather out if he put it all together.

Still, Gomez has the right style to tackle Olivares all in all.

Olivares hung with Arquello until very late.

Mexico vs PR.......somebody is going to get k.o.'ed ......may depend totally on the best chin.

I'd take Gomez. More talented and well-rounded IMO.

More like Arguello hung with Olivares. This wasn't the Arguello of later years, it was his weakest division, certainly pre lightweight IMO. Arguello got a lot better.

I see what Gomez did to Zarate, and i cringe. I like to believe Zarate really was sick, but there's no real proof i think. I rate Zarate just as good as Olivares and he had the height and range to be effective moving up but Gomez massacred him. Olivares comes to fight, and Gomez around the Zarate time was truly frightening.

Every Bazooka fight at Sp/Bantam was pure fistic carnage, it's Gomez all day every day.
