    good.i don't want any knocks on the door.you're right though, bennie was that bit tougher and any advantage that carter has in punching is negated by briscoes steel chin.
    carter is myth rather than legend

    I think his best days were behind him. By the way...not to discredit him too badly, but I think his 1 round ko of Griffith was a fluke. I don't think that Griffith...soon to come into his own as a middleweight..and a winner over the guy who humbled Carter in Dick Tiger...would have fought the same way vs Carter in a rematch. I think Griffith would have avenged that defeat if they had ever fought again.

    i agree.carter's record wasn't that great anyway, that fight apart was it.

    He didn't have the greatest of chins either, IMO...he beat veteran Holley Mimms by a decision, but was decked by Mimms during the fight..and was unable to return the favor.

    Now Mims was a handle for anybody, to be fair...but i saw the fight and Mims wasn't ever in danger of being decked, never mind being ko'ed...and he did deck Carter.
