Tho his career was short there are quite a few decent performances on Carters resume. Fernandez was one of the biggest punchers in middleweight history and was demolished in the blink of an eye. The counter right that dropped him was absolutely textbook and the finish frightening.

Mims (very late notice for Mims) and Brennan were also good wins. The majority also thought Carter deserved the nod over Joey Archer which is quite notable. He didn't disgrace himself against Giardello or Rodriguez either and had his moments again both greats. Peak Dick Tiger did give him a good beating in probably his best ever performance but we are talking rarefied air. Nobody outslugs Tiger.

This match up popped into my head today. Sure enough, there was already a threat.

Gotta go with Iran here though like others I think Carter is a real danger early.

Carter by fast KO. Rubin started fast and Iran could be sloppy, especially early. If it gets past the early going there's a chance Barkley could come back and win, but I have to favor Carter in this.

After reconsidering, I am heartily backing Iran.

Yes, if one only watched hurricane ko emile Griffith and Iran get stopped early by benn (3 kd rule not a real ko) its easy to imagine Carter coming out hot and blasting Iran out of there.

But looking at their whole careers, I favor Iran by close decision or late stoppage. Unless the 3 KD rule is in effect or the ref is quick to stop it because Barkley will have to eat some big shots. Close fight though.
