Hurricane is obviously favored but Frankly I think this could make for an awesome slugfest and a crowd pleaser. What do you think?

I wouldnt Rate Cavemans chances with florentino Fernandez much less his one round Conqueror Rubin, in fact people may think that they are watching a Hagler - Caveman Lee Re-Run ! Rubin also had a good Jab when he dained to use it, so Maybe Rubin would elect for a softening up Slow Poison, But Really..If the Bombs start Flying.. The Man who Looks like a fearsom Mongolian Warrior gets my Vote,

Rubin was a better fighter but if comes down to a slugfest its anyone's fight I think. If you haven't see Caveman's fight with John Locicero, I'd check it out.. Epic fight...

Lee had a weak chin. It was a travesty he got a title shot against Hagler. Emmanuel Steward pulled some strings to get that to happen. Frank Fletcher easily ko'd him.

I think Carter would win by mid rounds KO.

Concur. I think Caveman got Mickey Goodwin's shot.

I've changed my mind. Carter by early round KO. Maybe even the first round.

Carter had more power, and a better chin. He was probably physically stronger

Carter beat some top middleweights like Emile Griffith and George Benton

Lee's best win was a competitive war against journeyman Johnny Lo Cicero

It's shamefull Lee got a shot at Hagler's Middleweight title, while clearly superior fighters such as Animal Fletcher, Dwight Davison and Curtis Parker, never did. Not that any of them would have beaten Hagler, but they would have done better than Lee.

Parker at least should have gotten a shot at Hagler, better that than to see Hamsho and Obel 2.

Hamsho earned his shot by just edging Parker.

Obel 2 never should have happened. Obel was very well connected with the WBA. The only half way decent guy he beat was Chong Pal Park, who was himself pretty much untested at the time.

The top Americans, who were not as well connected, fought each other, thus eliminating some from title contention.

In Goodwin's case, he got injured. He wouldn't have won, but he may have put up a better shot against Hagler than his stablemate Lee did.

Goodwin was tough. He probably would have lasted a few rounds based on toughness

But, man, he didn't deserve a shot either

I think Hearns pulled out of a fight with Hagler or maybe, visa versa, and Steward was allowed to hand pick a replacement. So, naturally, he picked one of his two guys - neither of whom were legitimate top 10 contenders.

That's funny, was reading something on Hearns pulling out with an injury to his pinky, but admitted that Hearns wasn't ready for Hagler. Marvin was truly bad ass 82- early 83.
