We all know Rubio is a SOLID challenger. The problem is it's about time GGG faced more then a solid challenger especially as he'll be 33 years old in a few months. Rubio does absolutely nothing for him at this stage of his career except give him another highlight reel KO. After this fight, GGG should only face other Middleweight title holders i.e winner of Koborov-Lee or winner of Cotto-Canelo. If he can't get a fight against either then moving up to 168lbs to face a title holder there. To be honest, apart from facing the winner of Cotto-Canelo, the rest of the middleweight division is pretty shitty.
Yup... Rubio < Geale, Macklin Rubio > Stevens, Rosado, Adama, Proksa Pretty clear pecking order among Golovkin opponents. Geale was the only one who was clearly a top 5 guy and even he was one fight removed from a big upset loss to Barker.
I agree Rubio is one of the toughest around at middleweight at the minute. This will be a tough ask for Golovkin against a guy who can hit hard, can take a shot well and can fight at a good pace for 36 minutes. I expect a war for as long as this lasts which could be the full stretch.
Stevens gets knocked out... I'd be more interested in N'Dam vs. Rubio. That would be mighty interesting to see who imposes themselves over the other.
Yes he is, and he'll go down just like other very solid challengers called Geale and Macklin being a solid fighter's not enough to stop GGG, you'd need to be something very very special in order to do that
I recall the RBR thred on ESB for Pavlik/Rubio. Some of the poster's were saying Rubio looked like Borat and his cornerman resembled Azamat. That just sort of stuck with me all these years and for whatever reason I found it mildly amusing. I guess who had to have seen that stupid movie to get the true depth of reference. Perhaps that angle will get dug up again this Saturday.
All valid points I don't expect a KO A TKO is more in the cards as Rubio will get up and fight:deal :smoke
