I didn't say Rubio was one of my favorite fighters although I do like him. (But being that you've only been here a couple of days how would you know if I've ever mentioned him before ) I'm saying Cotto is one of my favorites- and I wouldn't want him to face either Golovkin or Rubio. He's not big enough and should be looking to maximise his earning and an escape route from boxing (i.e. fighting Canelo or trying to lure Mayweather for a fight at the middleweight title). I.e. I don't want to see him leave on a stretcher fighting GGG.
...based on walking through D-Rod and brittle-legged Maravilla? Oooooookay. I am exuberant about Cotto making history for PR and experiencing a resurgence of confidence under Roach - like I said I'm an actual fan of Cotto's (and not just using him to serve and agenda like you) but let's keep it 100... Rubio's ugly knockout losses were a lifetime ago. He's spent the last ten years proving beyond a doubt how mentally and physically durable he is. In fact, I'd say no other middleweight active has proven it quite like Rubio has.
well, 75% of the worlds population are relative morons, why would esb only have the other 25%. I think the percentages are more like 85-15 on esb.
bull**** rubio walks cotto the midget down and ko's him.rubio is tall with an iron chin and mexican cotto will have 2008 flashbacks.:deal
Rubio is bigger, stronger, cagier, and more complete than Margarito. The better chin is Margarito's but that is really it...and Rubio's as has been covered at length is excellent.
Thats high praise for Murray, who by the way has never won at world level. Not even once! (unless you class Max Bursak as world level - I dont). In fact if you exclude Bursak, Murrats best wins are probably only British level (His win over the very juvenile version of Nick Blackwell doesnt count) Calling Murray the equal of the far more proven Rubio - proven over many years and any number of world-class opponents - is a bit of a stretch IMO.
Excellent post! As long as he has something left he will give GGG hell. I would say he's GGG's best opponent to date.
Thanks IB, now you've spared me from doing this, I was going to write a defense of Rubio as well, I've been planning it for a few days, this also goes hand in hand with my, don't write off guys as bums so easily thread. Rubio if anyone in the division has a possibility of an upset, both by going the distance and losing, or dropping GGG for the first time in his career, and a very small outside chance of stopping him as well. GGG will probably win but this is not an easy fight, it may be one of the hardest ones at MW for him, Cotto would be beaten by Rubio in spite of the hype around Cotto's Sergio victory, I think Rubio at this point would have stopped this version of Martinez faster..
