Anyone who thinks this win means anything for Golovkin is delusional. You could tell Rubio was weight-drained in there. He looked like he'd just been released from a hospital. He showed up for a quick payday. I think GGG is the best MW out there, make no mistake. But this win is completely meaningless. :deal
If he just showed up for a quick payday then why didn't he bother his ass to shake dat extra 2 pounds off when he was given to hours to. He lost 100 grand. 1/4 of his purse. Rubio went in to win. He felt GGG had never fought as big a puncher as himself. So he sacrificed 100 gs to give himself a better chance. But obviously we all knew he had no chance ha
he came with 1.8 lbs over, cuz he didnt want to drain himself. Even a cruiserweight Chavez jr could make ****ing 154 pounds, when he wanted to. Stop making stupid excuses.
I think that is such BS, freaking athletic commission taking purse money from fighters. They could just say the promoter could pay less, but no, they will take the $100K and then have Rubio pay taxes on top (I don't think fines are tax deductible.) Greedy byaches.
You guys are obviously unable to understand. Rubio weight-drained himself to 162 pounds. There is a LIMIT a man can drain himself to. For Rubio, that limit was 162. Garcia thought he could drain him to 160, and they realised they couldn't so they were forced to give up 100 grand. The extra two hours they gave him were a useless formality, because Garcia and Rubio had already done everything possible. The only way to lose the two excess pounds would have been to cut off an arm.
So Rubio should be fighting at 168? Why didn't he move up awhile ago instead of waiting for that mandatory shot for the WBC belt that Cotto now holds? Would he have been drained too if he would of fought Martinez months back or Cotto instead of GGG?
