It is ridiculous, that either of these fighters, provokes significant interest on this forum!

Where are all the Tommy Farr threads, or Ron Lyle Threads?

Lets not get too crazy, Tua held wins over decent contenders like Izon and Maskaev in addition to his win over Rahman. Ruiz was ok or decent at best but very boring. Not elite. However Tua obliterated him in seconds so it doesn't matter that much

I don't think either of them is overrated. Tua had great power but, for the most part, was not good nough to be the best. Ruddock beat a decent amount of fairly good fighters but also was a tad below the best. I believe they are remembered and rated appropriately.

What's disturbing is the strange Razor Ruddock fetish running through this forum. He's a fantersizers fantasy fight favourite :gayfight:.

He definitely didn't go into survival mode against Ike.

I don’t think his chin should be questioned. He lasted 12 rounds with Lewis whole Ruddock got blasted in two. Sure it was an older version of lennox who Tua fought but the one who blasted out Ruddock was pre-steward

Agreed. I think part of the problem when he fought Lewis was that Lewis was completely on song and a REALLY bad stylistic match for a guy. Tua gave up 7 inches in height and 14" in reach which is pretty substantial and Lewis became superb at utilising such advantages. He had those advantages allied to an excellent punishing jab, huge straight right and a paralyzing uppercut. When Tua did land, and it wasn't often, Lewis was comfortably equal to the task.

Tua cops a fair bit for being too passive in that one but look at all the obstacles he faced and he simply wasn't good enough against a guy like Lewis.

Where are the Lyle threads? Every 2 months someone makes one, and then due to an incredible lack of imagination you'll see at least half a dozen more on the first page. I love Lyle and defend him, but even I get very irritated with this trend on the forum. Same thing with Max Baer or Rocky, you mention a fighter and all of a sudden that's all anyone wants to talk about.
Isn't the Lewis who fought Tua what people consider "peak" Lewis? After avenging his loss to McCall, from 97-2000 Lewis was undefeated in 9 fights with the only blemish being a bogus draw with Holyfield. He demolished Akinwande, Golota, Grant, Briggs, etc, in spectacular fashion. Arguably beat Holyfield twice and put on a clinic outboxing Tua. There was never another stretch of time when Lennox looked better.

When do most people consider Lewis to be at his peak?

I don't think that neither are overrated, Tua beat a lot of contenders during his time but they are somewhat weaker than ruddock's. Tua defeated Hasim Rahman, John Ruiz, David Izon, etc. but Rahman was decent, John Ruiz wasn't that impressive & David Izon was just 1990's Samuel Peter. Tua lost to greates like Lewis, Ibeabuchi & Chris Byrd. Similar to Ruddock, He defeated Phil Jackson, Greg Page, James Smith, etc. Yeah all of them are nice, but still not that impressive. They both KO'd the sh*t outta two faded fighters which is Michael Dokes for Ruddock & Michael Moorer for Tua. They're both are also remembered for his fights with Lewis which Ruddock got knock out cold & Tua got outclassed. Lastly, both are also remembered for their war with Mike Tyson & Ike Ibeabuchi. So I feel like neither is more overrated, both are equally rated imo

Both are overrated, one never became champion, and the other did but mental illness inflicted him, it is not his fault for that happening to him. His fault was not accepting that this happened to him, and seeking the appropriate help to treat it, there is no cure for mental illness but it can be treated with medication and therapy. Otherwise he could have had a longer reign as champion as certainly he did have the talent to succeed.

Their both overrated. Ruddock had more ability than Tua. I don't think he got the most out of it.

Id probably go with Tua being a little more overrated.
