Thats a good way of descibing Magee, one of the top B level fighters in the division. I dont rate Magee at all, but he is good at a certain level.
I think now Magees punch resistance has faded even more then it used to be and he has slowed down alot.
Even though I dont rate Dirrell and Magee has a better resume than Dirrell, I feel Magee is there for the taking now against other fighters at his level. Dirrell against the Magee of a few years ago would have been interesting

because of my argument with bgirl when i laughed at her smw ranking with #2Froch and #3Kessler,not to mention #5 Andre Dirrell based on sparring and looking in shape.it wasn't even a Bute debait...and i got banned till April.now those rankings are official on ESB...good news everyone :rofl

everyone else beside Ward,Kessler and Bute.Froch is also A level but A- given the fact that he lost his big fights with fighters that matter at 168.Bute is also A- cause he never had a really big fight but has the upper hand against Froch who had them and lost them.

    :patsch Unbelievable.
Alot of these ratings are so bias it becomes a joke.
I remember The Ring, how Ward beat Kessler and this bumped Bute to #1, as Bute overall had done more than Ward. Ward went to #2, yet when Ward beat (

) either Bika who Bute beat previously or Green who had done nothing at SMW, Ward got put above.
    It gets worse.
Froch lost to Kessler and then (

) Froch in his next fight beats Abraham coming off a loss and then Froch gets put straight above Kessler who beat him.

I always felt Froch and Ward were bumped up in the ratings so the Ring title could be contested, as I dont see how Froch beating Johnson who had lost more at SMW than won would bump Froch above Bute.
I dont see how Ward beating Bika/Green bumped him above Bute, though I would say with Wards wins over Kessler and Froch combined would put him above Bute, even though I feel Bute is the far better SMW and Ward doesnt seem to want to fight him

Then I dont agree with the statement, that Magee is one of the top b-level fighters at SMW.

:goodgood post, you are one of the few around here with a clear vision of how this division stands. How can you ever have Froch above Kessler when he clearly lost to him?cause Kessler took a rather big brake to heal?ok,i can take that, but then you put Andre Dirrell #5 who hasn't fought a fight in 2 years #5 based on a win with Darryl Cunningham and the fact that he was looking good in sparring and training?WTF?!?!

a top B level fighter at smw is Dre Dirrell,Stieglitz,Abraham,Bika or maybe Balzsay.Magee would lost to all of them, maybe not to Balzsay. That doesn't make him a C level fighter, just not a B+

Magee is a solid B-level , he won't get a belt but will have a couples of opportunity. Those guys diserve to have a shot at the belt.

I would put Sartison and perhaps Abraham on the same list. Never said Magee was/is a C-level fighter, but I would not place him as one of the top B-level fighters.

    I agree completely.
Froch put above Kessler was ridiculous, but worse was Froch put above Kessler for beating Abraham coming off a loss when Froch had lost to Kessler in his previous fight :patsch. Then Froch and Kessler did both fight on the same night, when Froch beat Johnson.
Now Froch has lost to Ward, hes magically below Kessler again and Bute :patsch.
It was all very bias and scripted to me.

I can't understand this big Dirrell praise, Dirrell hasnt done anything yet.
Sure he shows potential but most fighters do at the lower level, but lets not go overboard.

In honesty I dont think SMW is that strong from numbers 5-10, its just because America have a world champ who is number 1 (the first time in years), they say its strong. Really it is Bute, Kessler and Ward who need to settle the division. Mainly Ward and Bute.

Heres 2 old but posts from this year

    post 1

What have Oosthuizen, Degale and Groves done to really ******t being in the top 10. All 3 are great talents and Im a fan of all 3, but they are far from top 10 material for what they have done so far at SMW.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
G Johnson, well his SMW resume isnt good at all

In 14 SMW fights Johnson has lost 8 of them.
Johnson has lost at SMW to -

M Sosa who had 5 losses and 2 draws, and lost his next 2 fights after beating Johnson
Kiwanuka who had 3 losses and 2 draws, had lost his last 2 fights coming into his fight with Johnson and his fight after Johnson
Ottke 16-0 who in fairness was an outstanding SMW boxer
Vanderpool 27-1 who lost his next fight, but in fairness that was at MW to Hopkins and Vanderpool had a good run after
Branco 38-4-2 who was a world class SMW and became WBA LHW champ
Sheika who was 19-1 and lost his next fight, though in fairness that was to Calzaghe.
    Froch
    Bute

The SMWs that Johnson has managed to beat
Campas 3-20-4 coming off of only 2 losses and won his next fight
Watson 24-16-1, Johnson was his last fight
Renteria 9-23-5 coming in, whos last 10 fight record before facing Johnson was 0-8-2
Zimmerman 15-2-0 coming in, who had lost his previous fight and the one after
A Green 29-2-0 coming in and Johnsons biggest SMW victory

Its not impressive now is it. Please spare me the robbery talk.
If any rated SMW losses to Johnson it wont look good on their resume

    This content is protected
To think beating Green was all Johnson had to do to become a Ring rated SMW in todays ratings
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
A Abraham has a win over Taylor coming off of a KO loss and lost to Dirrell, Froch and Ward
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bika - Who did he beat and when?

    2nd post

Now Dirrell who has been absent for ages has beaten Cunningham, Dirrell has become a top 10 SMW, straight in at #9. So Abraham has been bumped to 10.
DeGale (11-1-0) who I didnt think should have been in there in the first place has been bumped out of the top 10, yet DeGale has just beaten the European champ and Dirrell has just beaten Cunningham :patsch.

Watch the fanboys justify the ratings now

I guess I was the first to point out her 'unusual' way of ranking fighters. I wonder how I made it witout getting a ban... Maybe you insisted on ridiculing her? I honestly thought that she wised up and evalued her system.

Topic: I find magee a very entertaining fighter who always seem well prepared and ready to fight. We know little of this version of Markussen. We know that hé carries a Big wallop but nothing else.

Originally I saw this fight as a clear win for Magee, but as the fight nears I Think Rudy has a good chance of landing a biggie. And thats what he can hope for because I cannot see him winning a (fair) decision. Ultimately Im leaning towards a late stoppage win for Magee, who I Think is the better conditioned athlete.

Hoping for a Markussen win though. I'm a dane you know. :D

Been going back and forth on this one, but Im now quite sure that Magee takes it unless Markussen lands something big early on.

Markussen has trained far less for this than Magee. That worries me quite a bit. And I think the step up from fast destructions of journeymen to Magees level is to much to fast.

I know that Rudy ate a bit during Christmas, but he also did have a fight in december so he had to relax a little bit.

Husk at 3+ sender optakt i aften.
