I like Ruiz, I'm just glad to see him back, I want to see him fighting top level guys again soon. It's not ideal, in fact it's a very poor fight but he has been out of the ring for a long time and he just needs to fighting again and regularly. I'll give him a pass for this one, I expect him to win comfortably but the next one he needs to be stepped up massively.
I wasn't expecing Arreola to come in anywhere near that light (just checked - his career low). As for Ruiz - don't get me wrong, 256 is still a lot of Mexican beef (in fact, that is two professional featherweight boxers plus a rack of Memphis ribs ) but that's a relatively deep cut for him too. Lowest since he fought Kingpin three years ago (before that, Parker). Interesting.
Ruiz is in good shape. I don't know how some people think he can get down to Cruiser. His upper body is massive, built like a gorilla. I think 240 - 245 may be Ruiz's best weight given his frame.
It’s actually not bad for a comeback fight with a new trainer and training regiment. What made it horrible was PBC slapping a $50 price tag and making it PPV. But then again I’m hearing some complaints from the UK about Parker vs Chisora being PPV also. So we have two decent HW scraps that most would watch on Fox/Showtime or Sky but will miss because of it being PPV.
When you from the streets and you a straight cold player. And you this hard and you this cold, you know this don't even go down. This is serious.
