Because you say he does? There's a rematch clause. Rematch clauses don't just say "There's a rematch". They effectively lay out terms for the next fight.
There'll obviously be discussions going on. You can't make a fight otherwise. But this talk of Ruiz demanding 50mill and holding all of the cards is just wrong.
Why discuss anything if the terms are already laid out? Ruiz is the A Side now. I don't understand why this bothers you.
It doesn't bother me. I just think it's nonsense to think that a guy who came into a fight as a late replacement and who 100% had to sign a contract containing a rematch clause is suddenly the A side in a rematch. The rematch clause was based on the respective status of the 2 fighters at the time it was signed, not after the fight.
He's the aside because he has 4 belts, AJ has none. He's the A side because he is the higher ranked fighter. He's the A side because he's coming off victory, AJ is coming off defeat. He's the A side because he just absolutely crushed AJ in 7 rounds.
The rematch should take place in Mexico. Ruiz will get cheated if the fight is in the UK! I don't blame him for asking for so much money, he won't get that much but he can put the scare into the Joshua camp!
I think what Sir Edward will eventually regret saying is "Challengers have to put a price on the belts. Take the smaller cut, win the fight and then you're the champ and can demand what you want; if you're so confident of winning." Rip AJ and matchroom you played yourself.
In a world where rematch clauses do not exist yes but this is the real world where voluntary defences have rematch clauses and terms that come with it.
Ruiz shouldn't worry about being short changed. He knows that all he needs to do is ***** slap AJ in the ring again and then the world is at his feet
