I wonder if the contract was iron clad though in terms of setting wages. They haven't decided on the venue yet which is probably not stipulated in the contract and is subject to negotiation. If matchroom insist on the rematch taking place in the UK then Ruiz could be like pay me $50 million but could be willing to take a cut for the rematch to be held in the US or Mexico.

Personally true warriors shouldn't really care about locations.

Buster Douglas apparently got $600,000 for his performance in Tokyo while Tyson got $20 million. Douglas in his next fight with Holyfield got $24 million after which he was happy to retire.

50 M is not pricing out, actually a very small payday for a fight in the UK. Unless the contract specifies venue, then Andy Ruiz can try to walk over the contract and force Hearn to pay fairly (Ruiz got nothing to lose)...He is the man with the gun and hearn is the guy with Gold and the cash cow that he wants to keep milking...50 M is a very modest request, Joshua in the UK will get the bests beats head phones and best therapy/meds to get him back into the best shape

50M is fair considering the robbery will happen in the UK. :bananaride:eatingburger

I'm not so sure about that, kirk. Seems to me that rulings on rematch clause scenarios have historically been rather inconsistent, at best. Sometimes they allow for interim fights first, other times they don't, and other times there can be other odd stipulations and factors that come into play.

I'm actually quote curious to see how this all plays out.

Also, the 50M is not pricing himself out. That's the price for having it in the UK, not re-matching in of itself. Someone else missing the distinction.

From what Ive seen, Hearn is Ruizs promoter for his next three fights, and the rematch already has set numbers (not sure if percentages or flat fees though) that were agreed to in the contract.

Andy Ruiz has eyes and ears (Whyte and others accusing Joshua of cheating in the UK), so he assumes that Joshua in the UK will be chemically superior to Joshua in the USA (harder fight)

If it is was iron clad that it was to be in the UK, Adam Smith, head of Sky Sports and Hearn's right hand man, wouldn't be saying ''I hope the rematch takes place in the uk''

Those are the words of somone who knows there are no certainties on where the fight venue will be held.

Adam Smith who works directly with AJ and Hearn, will know exactly what's in the contract.

The ball is in Ruiz's court.

Cool story. Orrr, Ruiz is going to fight when, where, and for the amount Hearn pays him, because hes contractually obligated to.

Yeah, I think I read something like that somewhere earlier today. I have no idea what's in the contract, and even if I did, I probably couldn't make heads or tails of it.

But it seems to me that these high profile rematch clauses, when exercised, usually wind up having some type of ultimate ruling applied to the situation. Both teams probably have lawyers combing through these things looking for loopholes and historic precedents that support their respective causes.

I myself am inclined to believe that this will likely be resolved in court - IF they can't otherwise reach a mutual agreement, which may well be a strong possibility.

All Wilder fans politely want Joshua to fight in the UK...otherwise Ruiz will ruin the awaited ATG Wilder KO Joshua painting they want to see

Ruiz vs Joshua in the US easy KO win
Ruiz vs Joshua in the UK Motivated, stronger Joshua will try to take him the distance
