Oh right, forgot that. One of my favorite lines about Ruiz Jr. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.

Iam one of the fast hands bandwagon brigade,I never made a single indication that I thought he had a chance, I didn’t think he did, Iam not now saying I told you he had fast hands before the fight, Iam basing it on what we saw in the fight.
I am also willing to admit that I probably haven’t watched enough of Ruiz to make the call about the fastest hands in the division, but I think it’s the alternative possibilities in the division now is what’s getting people excited.
About a week ago the heavyweight division was mapped out for at least the next 2 years, with none of the top three fighters arranged to fight each other,(fury wilder still isn’t definite) with Ruiz's win the division is now a different landscape with new debates and possibilities that weren’t possible before.
It’s not hindsight-bias it’s excitement and the reality that one punch can change everything in the heavyweight division, just as it was getting predictable.

Just saw Ruiz on Fox. States again that "if they want me to fight in the UK they have to pay me". I suspect MR have a clause there about a negligible % split ala Dillian Whyte, but it looks like Haymon and Finkels' legal eagles are leveraging Ruizs' belts as the bigger asset and looking to nullify it. Ruiz appears pretty confident on this.

My guess is that PBC are making it impossible financially for MR to countenance a rematch in England without outwardly stating it won't be there lest there be legal repercussions.

Haymon and Finkel will tempt Eddie in with a much lower demand for fighting stateside knowing they have all the cards in their favour. This probably explains why Hearn and Smith have both said "we'd like it in the UK" i.e. they are both aware that Haymon's demands may be too much to justify it and as a last resort fight across the Atlantic.

Exactly, the language is everything imo. It's not set in stone, thus Ruiz saying what he's saying. If it were in the UK, Hearn would say it's in the UK.

You’re an AJ nut hugger. What a shock.

If he dumps the belts, I doubt you’re right. He can do what he wants.

I get that but if he drops the belts, he has to be able to what he wants I imagine

Your post speaks is very measured and I appreciate that.

I am not taking away Ruiz Jr's win. He did the impossible and that's great. What I am having problems with is extrapolating from that.

One good fight is not a forecast for a great 10 year career. Just like in science one breakthrough paper doesn't make a lifelong scientific career. Beating one top 3 tennis player doesn't automatic win you 5 grand slam tournaments. Beating a grandmaster in chess does not automatically make you a grandmaster. For some reason in boxing many fans take a SINGLE WIN and assume the assessment of a fighter has changed magically overnight.

Before I pass judgement on Ruiz as a potential long-term HW champion I need to see more of him at the top-level. He has a more than decent chance of beating AJ again (although he will once more be the underdog). And then I'd like to see him handle a run-of-the-mill challenger or two who come to fight. Guys like Whyte or Pulev. If he can handle two of those I'll jump on the bandwagon.

Until then Ruiz Jr. has just been the right guy at the right time. Jury's still out regarding his long-term prospects.

These things are already worked out. He will get his agreed purse for a rematch.

Where it will be is still to be decided but the financials will be as good as done.

Preemptive strike. Sounds like Hearn is prepping for the possibility the fight will take place in the US but making it sound like it was his and AJ's choice if indeed it does end up there. This guy doesn't know when to stop spinning...

They're now dealing with the big daddy Harvard, mafia schooled kingpin Al Haymon.

The Devil vs Archangel Michael all over again, this behind the ropes.

The devil refusing to accept Ruiz Jr is the newly anointed one who holds all the cards in his favor. This rebellion reached Micheal's Al Haymon's office, requiring of him to descend down and put the devil back in his place
