He probably thinks he needs to get as much blubber as possible to be able to "outblub" Miller. We might see combined 650 lbs in the ring on August 3rd. Guys who run this show should seriously consider moving Ruiz Jr vs Miller fight to main event because no one can be sure the ring will be intact for other fights after carrying so much weight in Ruiz Jr vs Miller fight This content is protected
I don't think he looks that fat compared to his usual standards; and fat Ruiz is the best Ruiz IMO, as long as he's not too fat.
There is only fat Ruiz and too fat Ruiz, there has never been anything less. He looks very, very big in this video. And no one can be at their best while carrying so much extra weight. Especially not a 34 year old who is 6´2 but weighs 270lbs. Ruiz should be 230 or 240, but he never cared enough to truly dedicate himself to the sport. I wager he will be close to 280 this time.
I'm not too sure; when he trimmed down vs Arreola his punch resistance seemed to suffer, whilst the best Ruiz we have seen in Joshua I was still a flabby mess. With Ruiz I feel there is a sweet spot between fat and morbidly obese where he is at his best.
Food is awesome. Should probably do a cat scan on Ruiz's brain and see all the activity light up when a pizza hits his taste buds.
Loosing 10lbs of fat won´t take away his chin. He struggled with Arreola because he doesn´t train at all. It was his first fight in 17 months. There was a long period where Ruiz would consistently weighed in below 260, heck he even managed below 250 at times. But this changed in 2019 and since then Ruiz has had the idea that he can just weigh whatever he wants and perform at his best. I still remember several idiots here claiming the heavier Ruiz is, the easier he will beat Joshua in the rematch. Well, he weighed 15lbs more and got schooled. Joshua quite literally ran circles around him, with ease.
Yeah he is looking very fat. I think Miller will give Ruiz a very hard fight. Don't see anyone getting knocked out in this one. Both good chins (Miller better chin IMO) but not huge punchers. Probably a slugfest, hopefully the cardio holds up for both lol. Miller will keep coming forward and Ruiz will meet him in the pocket.
When I still cared to argue with casual fans, I got grilled for saying that Ruiz doesn’t deserve a third Joshua fight and should stop waiting around for a handout and actually beat somebody to earn a fight. Apparently people don’t like that and they are totally fine with a guy, not taking a rematch seriously and thinking they should automatically get a third fight. I can’t remember the last time I saw somebody blow the limelight this fast. This guy was on evening talk shows crossing over to the general sports fan. All he had to do was train and give a **** in the Joshua rematch, and he probably still would be a factor in the sport. There’s a lot of interesting fighters in the division that Ruiz could be a good opponent for like Zhang or Parker or Hrgovic or Kabayel or Dubois but he would rather stand around with his hand out like it’s 2019 and he’s still relevant
The first Mexican heavyweight champion ever and he does this to his legacy. Hopefully he can bounce back to at least a good fight against another contender.
He looks awful, and with his age and inactivity this won't work out well for him. He might get past Miller but I doubt he looks good doing it. He consistently overprices himself for fights, doesn't get them and doesn't train in the meantime, then finally takes a bout when he's running out of money. He's a disgrace
