Depends on how fat he is… At his heaviest he easily gains a 2” height advantage of blubber on his scalp!
Fat guys have better punch resistance and more recovery than muscled men. Even better when they are fast. They are always just generally lazy with a bad cardio
saw a recent clip of him on the pads, and his hand speed is insane for a guy his size. gloves are just a blur. he could have been so much more if he took his speed, toughness and power and did all he could to put it all together in the gym. but like many of us, he has a self destructive gene in there somewhere.
That to me is what is so sad. Could have been a Mexican hero. Just call it what it is. He is lazy. Compared to the average guy who's never been inside a gym (me) he's not, but for someone who fights professionally he's EXTREMELY lazy. Lazy leads to blubber. Lazy leads to inactivity. Lazy leads to not pursuing fights. Lazy leads to people forgetting you're even still an active fighter (I had until the Miller fight was announced) and that kills your marketability. Dude wants to train 6-12 weeks every 2 years and be rich, respected and adored. That's not the way it works. Just imagine how good this guy could have been if he had 1/10 of the desire someone like Usyk or even Joshua has.
I dont know if people are joking or being serious about him being better when he is fatter. All it says to me is he didnt take training serious.
Fat Ruiz might actually have an even better chance of winning. Personally I think he'd win whatever his weight - Miller is at least a level or two below him - but his history shows he does a bit better if he's packing a few extra pounds.
I can’t remember the last time I saw somebody blow the limelight this fast. Remember Buster Douglas ?
Honestly good; the closest we saw to a skinny Ruiz almost lost to Chris Arreola. If he's going to err on either side...
They are going to have to reinforce the ring like they say they do in pro wrestling when two giants wrestle.
