    LOL maybe you should put some of Povetkins wins into context instead of just missing key points out to suit your argument or going onto boxrec. Bragging about his Rahman win is like Danny Williams bragging about beating Mike Tyson. Rahman was shot to bits by that stage, Duhaupas was never EBU champion, he won the EBU-EU title which is not the full EBU title and Duhaupas took the Povetkin fight on a days notice. Povetkin was also never the full champion and Ortiz also held the same title as Povetkin so that is also irrelevant bragging about that. Bragging about beating Wach is also laughable.

    1. Povetkin never was a champion
    2. Rahman shouldn't have even been sanctioned to fight.
    3. If you're talking about EBU champs, that says what kind of reach you're making.
    4. Povetkin was the better am, but this is the pros.

    The facts remain: Povetkin never performed as well as Ortiz in his title shots or against a top 5 contender.

    Povetkin beat him in what was Byrds second fight after losing Klitschko yet Klitschko still gets credit for this win. Why doesnt Povetkin?

    Beating prime Chagaev, KO'ing a prime Perez, stopping Byrd, being the first to KO Takam, taking Chambers "0" all on par if not better than KO'ing a prime Jennings. Outside of Jennings Ortiz did nothing of note.

    Another poster mentioned that Wach was the weskest name on the list, no its Hammer who Wach beat and Hammer caused Ortiz issues. Povetkin beat Hammer much more comfortably than Ortiz did.

    NoNeck says Povetkin performed worse than Ortiz in world title fights... how so?

    Povetkin went 19 rounds in title fights... Ortiz went 17...

    Povetkin went distance with Klitchko...

    And 7 rounds against an olympic gold medallist...

    Ortiz scraped 7 rounds against a bronze medalist... who has the worst technical ability out of any champ in history.

    Ortiz performed better in the respective fights. Going the distance doesn't mean you fought well, and if I'm wrong about that we need to assess the championship performance of Kingpin Johnson. Povetkin got swept 119-104 across the board. Rarely do you see a fighter lose a decision like that. I will say that Wladimir fought disgracefully that night, but nevertheless it was a very poor showing by Pov.

    He fought better against Joshua, having some early success, yet still go KOd. He also was down on the cards (legitimately) at the time of stoppage.

    Ortiz actually won the bulk of the rounds against Wilder and nearly knocked him out in the first fight. There's no good argument that Povetkin outperformed him.

    The cards in the Joshua v Pov fight were ridiculous and I'm saying that as an AJ fan. No way was Pov losing that fight. Think I had it 2 rounds to Joshua before the stoppage.

    Anyway its irrelevant as Joshua and Wilder are obviously 2 different fighters and impossible to use as a reference point to determine who did better in a world title fight. It would have to be the same fighter within the same timeframe.

    Povetkin has done more and beaten better boxers than Ortiz has.

    And I've even left some of Povetkin's scalps off because I'm having to drop down the levels just so we can find more than a handful of respectable names on Ortiz's ledger.

    Povetkin was just 12-0 and 13-0 respectively when he beat Donald and Byrd. Donald was 40 and had been out for over a year and a half but he lost a very controversial decision to WBA champ Valuev in his previous fight. Povetkin vs Byrd was part of a four man IBF elimination HW tournament also featuring Chambers and Calvin Brock and Byrd was ranked #5 by the IBF, Brock #4, Chambers #10, and Povetkin #11

    'The 2004 Olympic gold medal winner, unbeaten in 13 professional bouts, joins fourth-ranked Calvin Brock, former champion Chris Byrd (5) and Eddie Chambers (10) in the competition. Povetkin (11) will be in for a meeting with Byrd, while Brock comes face-to-face with Chambers. The two winners will then fight for the right to challenge Klitschko’

    Again, Povetkin was just 13-0 at the time and Byrd was 40-3-1 and whilst past his best still a good fighter. Two of those losses came at the hands of a Wlad and that version of Wlad was hell on wheels as someone once said. Devastating power in either hand, beautiful punch technique, highly skilled, and clearly faster than the version who lost to Fury and AJ.

    And if we're going to cite Byrd and Donald's age when they fought a 12-0 and 13-0 Povetkin then make sure you're ready to catch that boomerang because it's coming right back at you. Thompson was 45 when Ortiz beat him and Bootleg D's best win is an Ortiz who was a couple of weeks shy of his 39th birthday in their first fight and four months shy of his 41st in the rematch and Bootleg D's second best win Stiverne was 36 in their first fight and 39 in the rematch and Stiverne's second best win is a 40 y/o Ray Austin who was outboxing his ass for the vast majority of the fight prior to getting clipped in the 10th round. Stiverne made the slow cumbersome Austin look like a prime Larry Holmes and the commentary team were scathing of his performance.

    Povetkin was fighting decent/good quality opposition from very early on in his career, from his 6th or 7th fight in, whereas Ortiz didn't fight anyone decent until at least his 21st fight

    Povetkin has only incurred 2 losses in his entire career amateur and pro that haven't been avenged and both were against opponents who were much bigger than him and held every physical advantage over him and not by a little bit either. Wlad was allowed to get away with blue murder against him, octopus grabbing and mauling him to death all night, and he was 39 when he lost to AJ which is 2 years older than Byrd was when Povetkin beat him.

    Here's Ortiz getting stopped on the outscored rule by the average Alexander Povernov. Pov can't miss with the right hand once it dawns on him that Ortiz's massive melon is a magnet for them and he even drops him with one which the ref chose not to count for some reason. No one did that to Povetkin in the ams.

    Here's Ortiz getting lit up with right hands all night by a worse version of Hammer than the one Povetkin pretty much schooled. Hammer gave Ortiz a very tough fight.

    Fk Whyte all he’s doing at the minute is a lot of talking slating other boxers, he’s fighting a Povetkin who is over the hill his last fight with wach was close he scraped by! and he looked like a fat muffin, tats down to his knees!

    Prime Perez? The guy was fatter than Dillian Whyte when he came into the ring and claimed to have been drinking before the fight.

    I don't even mind Povetkin to tell you the truth and he's had a decent career but the guy is in his 40s now and you're trying to make out like he's got a devastating resume when it's nothing more than solid at best and you prefer him to Ortiz because he fights for Matchroom these days.
