Ruiz is pretty much a lock. He's had multiple title reigns. His resume has better names on it than just about any heavyweight (viably) active in the past.... what 10 years or so? Name someone Ruiz has ducked? You can't do it.
He'll end up in Canastota for sure. Multiple title reigns, good W's against good opposition, and the 1st Latin Heavyweight Champion. Its enough.
earlier on there was a thread saying he might be the worst HW champion in 30years, now people are saying he is top 20. aside from this i think he gets in.
seriously, i hate ruiz's style as much as the next guy but the hall of fame isn't for styles exclusively or accomplishments exclusively. not saying it's right but people with solid accomplishments but ugly styles (ruiz) will get in same as people with lesser accomplishment but more exciting styles will get in. it's how it works
Yeah cause all those guys are ATGs and a shopworn Holyfield wasn't 10 years past his prime.. Ruiz has ammassed 8 losses in his illustrious career. Sergei Kobozev (who?), Danell Nicholson (who?), David Tua (KTFO Rd. 1, who else did Tua Beat?), Evander Holyfield (Who was shopworn as hell even 10 years ago and who he actualy split 3 fights with down the middle, 1 win, 1 loss, 1 draw, 2,392,784 hugs), Nicolay Valuev (who took 12 rounds to finally wear down Monte Barrett LOL), and Ruslan Chagaev (Who has Hepititis B). Lets break down some of those wins you are talking about... Tony Tucker (40 years old and feasting on bums at the time), Kirk Johnson (completely overrated, and Ruiz won by DQ), Andrew Golata (Who was mental and shot in 2004, Ruiz was knocked down in this fight), Hasim Rahman (who was KOd not once, but TWICE by Old man Maskaev and never had a quality win other than that lucky punch in South Africa), And ....Jamil McCline (who was later outclassed by Calvin Brock ffs). Seriously...this is NOT and All Time Great resume... It can be compared to the resume of any of the fighters he beat.
