The fact that he didnt have the talent to be a world champion 3 times isnt ruiz's fault he got those opportunitys largely because he's one of the few heavyweights out there who isnt crazy or clinically obese. Ruiz trains turns up in decent shape and is hard to beat the fact that so few other heavyweights do these simple things is why he's overachieved in his career

That's nice. But it's only half the story. After he got blasted out by Tua he devised his jab and grab style. Not to mention the fact that his management team kept him miles away from anyone who could punch for years. Please. Name a puncher he beat. In fact, the only decent puncher I can remember him facing between Tua and Haye was an old washed-up Golota who knocked him down twice in the fight.

That was before all of Chagaev's injuries/diseases, Wlad fought a much worse version of Chagaev than the one Ruiz had a close decision loss to a few years before. The writting was already on the wall, Chagaev looked horrible against both Skelton and Drummond right before taking on Wlad.

It is impressive for Ruiz to not only stay in the fight, but also keep coming forward, inspite of the punishment his noggin was taking.

But that said, Haye does have impressive power, but no way does he penentrate Wlad's left hand in order to land on Wlad as he did Ruiz. Wlad will lay him out with a single left hook if Haye gets bold enough.

Ironic. Ruiz gets my respect in defeat. He hardly ever got it in victory.

John Ruiz is now a living legend. Getting beat by an English fighter does wonders for your forum rep.
