I wouldn't risk it man. It can be hostile territory for Americans of all colors. Just don't blow your cover as an American. Keep your blinders on, don't go on the streets at night etc

The guys first question to me was where are you from ? I said america bro, how about you? Syria, I need money how much do you have on you? Literally a crack head or drunk alcoholic guy. He then screamed I'll stab you. I basically just booked it Luckily, my hotel had an entrance where you had to enter swipe to get in. It's not like that in America. The place has crafty security for a reason
Which part of Amsterdam did you go to? It's probably the worst city when it comes to crime in the Netherlands, but violence against Americans by homeless crack addicts? Not very common.
Been to Amsterdam a couple of times, one of the most chilled out places I have ever been, is really busy though. Can’t remember seeing any homeless people. Been to America a couple of times too, seen more homeless people there than anywhere else in the world I have been to, also has loads of rough looking areas, also more than any country I have ever been too.
