We call out referees often for their failings. I thought this was a great stoppage. AJ in his signature manner spat the shield out for a further rest, ignored the ref and walked back to his corner for what seemed to be an unannounced time out on his side. He then indicated he wanted to continue but was in no rush to do so.

I can only imagine what the Parker Joshua ref would have done in those circumstances. We'd probably still be waiting to resume.

The funniest part wasn’t the knock downs it wasn’t the loss itself heavyweight boxing one punch can change the fight. It was the spitting out the gum shield and quitting that truly made it great. Far better than Wilder bombing him out

The ref did do a great job calling the stoppage, but we must also realise he really did give all the time in the world with several of the knockdowns. It was almost like the referee was in Hearns pocket but he just could not do anything more to help Joshua.

Because Joshua had given up and did not want anymore.

Want proof: Joshua with his back leaning on the turnbuckle and his arms sprayed across the ropes.

Also I should have mentioned he let them fight on the inside in a clean manner. Brilliant job.

You could see it in Joshua's eyes...he didn't want to fight....I think he was in shock (seriously) that the chubby guy in front of him could fight that well.

I had no problem with the stoppage. It was clear as day AJ was done. He was done.

This. The ref from Joshua-Parker was a disgrace. He was almost as bad as the ref from Richard Towers-Gregory Tony.
