Kirk, I know you're an AJ fan but take it from an unbiased source that has no stake in this. AJ spit his mouth piece out, and his body language said he wanted no more.
This. Don't get how people can't see this. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Joshua is a quitting ***** like Tor, but his body language said no mas.
True but part of him refused to actually say he wanted to quit after several knock downs and that’s something you can’t begin to understand weasel boy.
Human communication is 10% verbal and 90% body language. After each of the first three knockdowns when the ref asked AJ if he wanted to continue AJ put both hands up said yes and moved forward. After the last knockdown he looked at his corner, turned his back to the ref, stood in the corner with both hands on the ropes. When the ref asked if he wanted to continue he said yes but kept his hands on the ropes, didnt move forward and didnt put his hands up. He decided to avoid the inevitable knock out that was sure to come.
I actually think Joshua would have continued if he could have and got beaten down, but his body quit. That's what I meant.
Lets say that was Holyfield, Ali, Margarito, badou jack, maidana off the top of my head, in that position, in that corner. They would be screaming YES, not turning their back and keeping off leaning on the ropes
people still seem confused on whether he quit or not. this is what happened, so everyone understands the context. aj gets dropped for the second time in the rd, 4th time in the fight, and looks spent. the ref, who is watching aj closely, sees him get up at 9, spit his mouthpiece onto the mat, turn his back and walk to his corner to support himself with the ring. twice during that sequence, the ref told him this wasnt a break and to turn around. when aj chooses to remain held up by the ring, after the ref asks him if he wants to continue and motions for him to step forward. by this time aj has been given an unfair amount of time to recover, has failed to respond to both verbal and hand commands, has been on the floor 4 times, and shows no urgency to stay in the fight. what do you do?
That's not true at all. The first KD: The ref told Joshua to raise his hands and he then did. The second KD: Ref asked Joshua to walk to him and to raise his hands. Joshua did both. The third KD: Joshua backed into the corner and leaned on the ropes. Ref told him to pick up his hands and he did. Ref then told him to get off the ropes. Fourth KD: Ref told him to turn around. Which he barely responded to. Ref then asked if he wanted to go on and Joshua said yes. Joshua followed every command he was given. He always waited for the ref to give him instructions.
You stop the fight as he rightfully did. Joshua was barely responsive, like you said. People are ignoring the fact that Joshua was clearly hurt. Just look at his eyes. Dude was out of it.
No one is ignoring that. He was clearly hurt. It was also clear that he didn't want to continue anymore.
AJ definitely got the power to put Ruiz down and keep him down he just come second place in close exchanges due to speed disadvantage. Essentially, Ruiz has taken away some of Joshuas best punches because Joshua can no longer use the hooks or uppercuts with Ruiz now. His gonna have to stick to his jab and cross or.overhand right... which he can still hurt people with but not as much as his trademark uppercuts and hooks because he is comfortable with those
