it looked to me like he was playing for some vital extra time, delaying stepping forward but it backfired, he tried the spitting out gum shield trick he did against Wlad as well. He proved he isnt a quitter by getting up when he was clearly badly hurt. doesn't change the fact that he has a hard job beating Ruiz in the rematch.
I think your memory is in need of a refresh and you will see the big smile spread across his face. Watch the video below of the final knockdown and it will become clear as day that he quit. The ref, short of physically dragging Joshua back to centre ring, did all he could to motion clear command which was willfully ignored. This content is protected And for those saying he was too concussed to understand instruction, how then do you explain that he was still clear in mind to what was asked of him by the ref to where he was still able to give response? He's either completely concussed and confused, or he isn't.
Where was the smile? The moment the ref waved the fight off he was in shock. And the ref waving him on, he didn't register it. These things happen. Joshua didn't get up, say yes and then look for a way out.
Jesus Christ, are you special? Replay the video @17:00 secs and you will see the big smile etched across his face. I'd wager had there been no audience to bear witness, he would have gladly embraced Mike Griffin for saving him from further punishment
16:53 is when the fight got waved off. Where was the smile then? There was none because Joshua was shocked. Or did he fake it? 17:00 is a smile of disbelief. It's a coping mechanism. You are acting like Joshua is on par with the likes of Victor Ortiz and Chad Dawson.
Like I said before, it;s called saving face. The mask slipped and he displayed relief which you now call disbelief. How can it be disbelief when all signs beforehand pointed towards him wanting out? If he was in disbelief he wouldn't be smiling instead he would angrily to protest at length, short of chopping at the bit to get a piece of the ref.
This is literally the definition of: "seeing what one wants to see." Whatever. I don't think he quit. You do. This is a pointless argument.
Fair enough, we disagree. But my opinion is shared amongst many of professionals who just so happen ''to see what one whats to see''/. I guess you know far more than the likes of Teddy Atlas, George Groves and co
I don't think Joshua quit, he simply looked confused to me like he didn't know where he was. Ref saw that and called off the fight.
lol bro you literally just repeated everything I just said. Not sure what your talking about not being true at all.
We can't compare this situation with Tor the ***** Hammer or Victor Ortiz since those quitjobs were far worse, but to me Joshua's body wanted no more. Joshua's body language said it all, subconsciously I think his body was telling him there was no way he could turn the fight around. Even after those knockdowns I saw Joshua land massive rights but they didn't budge Ruiz.
Joshua didn't quit, though he definitely didn't look raring to go. The ref was justified in waving it off since Joshua was pretty wrecked by that point and would have only sustained further punishment, but it wasn't like Joshua outright refused to fight or come out of his corner. I'm no huge fan of the man but he deserves better than to be labelled a quitter.
