There's a difference between using holding strategically, to supplement actual boxing skills - as Wlad does - and using it EXCESSIVELY, to make up for the the utter LACK of them, as Ruiz does.:yep

 

Ruiz sucks and always WILL. It was PROMOTIONAL "brilliance":-( that kept him afloat.

 

If I met Ruiz I wouldn't shake that mans hand if I was paid. His wins are frauds...his skills are more suited for wrestling. His very presence is a detriment to the sport. He does not even reach his targeted demographic of Latino's, who actually know boxing.

He cheats decent fighters out of wins.

He had one chance to redeem himself when he fought the Russian giant. Ruiz let the west down. He will be remembered for his in ring grappling.

Lett's hope Don King uses his evil powers and makes Ruiz go away.

 

i give ruiz one thing. he makes people fight his fight. they get caught up in it.

i thought a lot about it. ruiz has 7 losses and most were debateable. the decision to kobozev, nicholson, valuev, and the first holy fight.

in reality the guys record could be 47-4. hes no bum. he makes due with what hes been given, which is not a lot, and does well.

hes not the first HW to come around and hold a lot. ali did quite a bit of holding himself and im not comparing them ali had skills way out of ruiz' league.

How many of his wins were SD or disputable UD's he's never blown anybody away and out wrestles his oppenents and makes both guys in the ring look bad....and the sport also.

Yeah, disputed decisions, illegal holding tactics, and - worst of all - disgraceful overacting to force bogus "low blow" calls, there's the "brilliant tactics" that account for Ruiz emerging from the New England club circuit to hold a title belt he didn't deserve.

I would somewhat agree with the thread. It may haev been ugly and boring, but he has the best resume probably of any heavyweight (currently) and he got a lot of victories
