In the interview after the fight(outside the ring) he said he want to face WIlder next if he beat Helenius. So the gloves are thrown. Let's see if Wilder win first and if he will accept the challenge. This is the fight that makes the most sense to be fair. Two former HW champion facing to once again become mandatory.
So Wilder will accept the fight then??? This ain't about who would win, but will Wilder accept the fight or once again looking for an easy way.
Doesnt matter if Wilder accepts or not, fact of the matter is that Ruiz is still a top 5 fighter in the hw division. Those facts cannot be disputed.
At present I think Usyk , AJ, Fury, Whyte and Parker are all ahead of Ruiz. I do have Ruiz sixth though.
Take Ruiz place of sixth if he does. I'd be surprised if Wilder gets in the ring with Ruiz let alone somehow manages to beat him.
It will be a very interesting match up. Wilder will probably be under 220lbs which is best for him but he'd be giving away a 50lb weight advantage. Wilder has a good chin but slim legs, and thin build could be trouble every time Ruiz gets inside, and that should be the blueprint as used by Fury. Ruiz can't afford to give Wilder the outside and be hesitant like he was tonight. On the other hand, even though Wilder's footwork leaves a lot to be desired, it's enough to stay away from slow footed and much shorter Ruiz. Wilder's reach would allow him to stay out and bomb away. Ruiz' deadly temple shots would be tougher to land if Wilder doesn't bend in. I could see Wilder taking him out in the 1st half of the fight, but anything can happen, and Ruiz is good at dipping and blocking. No one has taken Ruiz out yet so that'd be a great accomplishment. I watched the Ruiz - Dimitrenko fight to see how he'd deal with that height and reach and Ruiz did well.
For boxeec not Ring. I would disagree, despite Ruiz having the best career win of the two (AJ) as Whyte better overall depth to his record with wins over Poveykin, Parker, Chisora x 2, Rivas and Helenius. It would make for a great fight but unfortunately Ruiz has turned it down twice.
