After a lot of reading I found at least a partial answer on the IBF site to this question which states the chief second is allowed to assist the fighter back to the corner.

Let's say a fighter is being pummeled in the corner as the bell rings and the ref steps in, and as he does, the fighter falls the floor. Obviously he would be down from damage suffered during the round but 'survived' till the bell. Is the second allowed to help him back to the corner or would the ref count? I'm assuming round is over.

Variation. Let's say the fighter takes a couple steps towards his corner and collapses. Again, I'm assuming from what little I read the chief second would be allowed to come in and help his fighter back to the corner at this point?

Seems to me any time a fighter goes down because of blows it should be counted but we gotta go by the rules. Usually we see fighters, no matter how badly wobbled, get back to the corner on their own so that is what made me wonder if the seconds were restricted between rounds as to how far they can go into the ring.

Wlad fell after the bell against brewster. In walking back to the Corner the Ref waived it off.

Thanks. That at least indicates the ref has the discretion to do so even between rounds.
