Rummy's Boxing Prediction League: A New Start for a New Year!

Well, I keep complete records and the statistics run pretty deep, so there are various indicators to help compare records and performance.

Typically, we have 4 or 5 fights most weeks. I know this is a lot, but there are a couple of reasons for doing this.

For starters, we like to try and get fights on that are televised as often as possible. We also like to try and get most title fights in, depending on how busy or a slow a particular week is. Additionally, by having four or five fights, it usually results in one or two winners, which is preferred over having a bunch of people tied each week for the lead.

There won't be 4 or 5 every week, but as a general rule, we usually aim for 4.

I hope this does not dissuade you from participating. To reiterate, you had one of the best runs in league history and I would be interested in seeing how well you do over the course of an entire season.

No doubt, there is a certain element of luck to this. In the end, it's more of an accumulation league than anything. It does require some reasearch each week on the part of those making picks.

One of the things I honestly like about the league is it has made me become a lot more familiar with some names in the sport I would otherwise not know much about.

Again, my goal is to try and encourage more people to begin participating on a regular basis.

There are other ways to help distinguish the best from the rest, though. Every now and again, I will dub certain matches mega-bouts whereby all points (positive and negative) are doubled.

Last year, we had eight such fights.

Anyway, I do concede there is an element of luck to all of this.

However, I hope you still consider joining in.

I sincerely try my best to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone. Sure, it's competitive, but at the end of the day it's mostly for fun.

Every week I update the stats and tables and keep a running list of records and accolades.

At the very least, I hope you give it a try for a month or so to see if you like it.
