    Interesting story.

I don't doubt for a second that Manny possesses considerable intestinal fortitude. And I think he probably had a lingering injury that resurfaced and was aggravated during the fight.

But visually, it did not look like someone who had suffered a major injury, and I'm suspicious to the point where I at least think they are playing up the severity a good deal, ideally leveraging for the possibility of a rematch.

The whole injury thing really is making Pac look bad, but it's so funny watching Pac fans in damage control that it's worth it.

Saddens me but you're probably right. He won't land one of the marquee names for a while and will continue to be avoided. My only hope is that Alvarez bites with his ego, as he wished to with Floyd, and demands against better wishes that the fight be made. I don't think that's going to happen. It's frustrating, but GGG can prove plenty against various other good MW fighters that he hasn't faced yet. I'm with you that GGG-Lee is a tasty match-up and one that can realistically be made.

    Good video!

I agree with you on Cotto's situation. The Geale fight is VERY risky, and if he so happens to lose that match, than I don't see Mayweather fighting him. Him against Canelo could still sell if he lost to geale though as that's probably the best PR vs Mexico match you can make in boxing right now.

Now if he cancels the Geale fight or eeks out a win against him, I think he should fight Mayweather instead of Canelo. Canelo will ALWAYS be there for him to fight down the road, whereas the clock is ticking on FLoyd's career.

Just from a financial standpoint, he stands to make the most money fighting FLoyd in what would probably be a career payday for him, than Alvarez either at MSG or down in Dallas at that mega stadium for Cinco De Mayo 2016.

The Ward fight as you mention is way too risky for GGG at this juncture, especially if he loses to him it could damage his potential earnings for future fights with the big names in his division.

Good stuff Rummy. Like you said on your last video he should just stay at 160 and continue to try and destroy any and all, build his legacy. The "linear champ" will eventualy have to face him or vacate, so its only a matter of tme before he unifies and ultimately carves out his legacy as what could be one of the greatest middleweights of all time

Ward is now clearly a 175 fighter who can no longer even make 168. He's hired two notorious steroid cheats to try and aid him in doing so, but even they can only get him down to 172

THe difference in a Floyd GGG fight and a GGG Ward fight is that GGG is a ton better known than Ward, so Floyd GGG would sell huge numbers. There's no way in hell Floyd would ever take that fight though - if he was petrified by a slow limited lumbering Margarito while in his prime, how do you think he feels about Golovkin

Good video, I think most of what you said is more or less true.

Also, what GGG was talking about when he said " I understand his situation" regarding Ward was Ward's need to rebuild his own marketability after having basically disappeared after the Froch fight.

Loeffler and James Prince have had numerous discussions about GGG-Ward, and both sides seem to be in agreement that Ward needs to rebuild his brand before the fight makes sense. Ward's side, for their part, would be much happier if GGG beat a Cotto or Canelo before moving up anyhow because then its also better for Ward.

Still, I think Golovkin faces Ward before he faces a Cotto or Canelo. If Cotto was interested he would have acknowledged his mandatory and not said "GGG can have the belt" and no way Oscar risks his only PPV star on deck.

The only scenario where GGG gets any name below 168 is if both Cotto beats Geale, and Lemiuex beats NDam. Because then Oscar has a horse to trade in getting GGG to step-aside for WBC belt for a fight or two, letting Canelo get a couple 160lb defenses in and time to build the fight. If that didn't happen then I think Canelo drops WBC (presuming a win over Cotto) to fight for a different version of MW title, against DL or NDam or Lee.

Bottom line: Canelo wont face GGG before mid 2016. Golovkin probably does manage to pick up at least one more belt this year, either from Geale or from DL. If a Canelo situation doesnt pan out, probably faces Ward about a year from now after Ward - with the help of Roc gets a couple fights in, and starts selling tickets and grabbing an audience.

    Good video

    You're probably right

Golovkin will keep beating up middleweights which is good for him

Its a shame because, i think hes so good that he could have success at super middle

This is a problem with a lot of divisions...

The "big" money at 147 and 154...

    At SMW, its just Froch.

At 160 its just GGG and DL in Quebec who can actually sell tickets.

Matchroom puts on a lot of good mid level shows in various divisions but its all UK.

Creates a lot of problems in the sport... when facing less risk quotient generates more money over time. Canelo would make a lot more money fighting GGG than anyone but Cotto or Floyd, but hed make safer money fighting 2 guys who are less dangerous.

GGG would have to take a pay cut to get Ward enough money to step in, why bother when he can make 7 figures fighting whomever will sign a contract at 160?

Cotto would make more money for a GGG fight than anyone but Canelo or Floyd, but why bother when he can go after those guys... or sell out MSG and get a fat HBO purse fighting anyone else.

The business aspect of boxing is frustrating to say the least.

Here is my take on what is going to happen:

Next month Geale will outpoint Cotto. I don't think Cotto is particularly worried about this as he's not a middleweight anyway, he will have the same back up plan as he did if he lost to Martinez and like the Trout defeat I don't think it will really hurt his drawing power that much (and is a reason to avoid Golovkin).

Golovkin meanwhile continues to maintain his spot as mandatory challenger for that title in his next fight by beating the number 1 or 2 ranked guys (Jorge Sebastian Heliand or Turenco Johnson).

Saul Alvarez will fight Miguel Cotto in his next fight anyway, even though Cotto is coming off a loss because that's still a big fight and can take place at 154, 160 or somewhere in between- and Alvarez will win.

Early next year/ late this year. GGG will look to win every title other than the one that Geale won off Cotto and/ or continue to beat mando's/ top ranked contenders for Geale's title and step aside to allow Alvarez to win Geale's title (if he still holds it) in May. Alvarez will win again then Golovkin will have him check mated for a unification fight that will take place in Sept 2016- and to give Canelo his due I believe him when he says he is willing to face GGG.

(by that point at GGG's current rate of activity he would only be one off equaling Hopkins record for middleweight title defenses).

I agree that GGG should stay away from Ward until Ward is shamed into admitting he is B-side (which to this point in his career he has never done) and will accept B-side terms- be that leaving Cali, taking the test, being dragged down in weight, accepting a lower split etc

Looking forward to listen to it, I hope you're going to be objective and not a Ward fanboy.
