the big fight is upon us Rummy. Are you going to do a final prediction, or will you just sit back and enjoy this one?

I myself expect a lot of fouling and controversy one they announce the winner.
But I got Hillary "Clinchqueen" Clinton by clear UD.

I was hoping to have something done by today, but have been short on free time. I will definitely do some type of preview & prediction. Hoping for a Thursday or Friday release.

    Great vid Rummy
Although I don't get why you go against your own breakdown in this one? Is it just because he's an American? Is it because of the Brexit and the last election where it wasn't logical which side came out on top, but it happened anyway?

I predict a stoppage win for Kova, but you already knew that, and largely due to points you mentioned in your breakdown too.
More ways to victory, Kova doesn't have to win all swing states as it were

Have you ever seen me pick fighters because they were American?

I should have probably expanded on why I was making that pick. I had actually filmed a segment after the keys to victory, where I want over "plausible possible outcomes" and I went through several possibilities of ways I can see Kovalev winning and ways I can see Ward winning.

I wound up cutting that whole part out, because I felt it was getting too long, and most of the ways I listed included a lot of repetition with stuff I had already noted. But in cutting that segment, I wound up losing a few details on why I ultimately do feel Ward will win.

The short version is I think he will rise to the occasion. But I still see it as a 50-50 type fight with a lot of possible outcomes.

    That explains a lot
The way it looked now is that you put out a very thought out breakdown, and then went for the other guy. :D

Can't wait for this fight to actually happen.

That was really great piece. I too am thinking that with 'Nard's retirment that it's the end of an era of "just sign the damn contract and fight" fighter. In this era of duckers, choosy, selective, carefully matched fighters his exit saddens a true fight fan. HIs choice of an opponent for a farewell fight is truly fitting.

At least he didn't end go out with president-elect Hillary. LOL.

Well, while I did say Ward would have less room for error and needed to be closer to perfection, I also concluded saying I thought he would show the boxing world exactly how great he is. So in other words, I think Ward is apt to have exactly that type of great performance.

All the same, you've given me an idea. I think I have a better approach to these sort of episodes going forward, and if you hadn't made this post, I probably would have never entered this train of thought - so I thank you, not only for your continued support which I do appreciate, but also for inspiring a new idea that came to me in our discourse.

Me neither. I can honestly say this might be the most fired-up I was since Golota was active and relevant.

    Thanks marting.

As someone who has been a long time supporter and fan of Bernard's, I just hope he isn't taking this 1 fight too far. At his age, I think there is genuine reason to always be concerned. Especially now.

It was such a surreal night watching the election returns roll in, I felt like I was stuck in the middle of a David Lynch film.

I'm at work so I can't watch youtube. What do you think are the "3 Key mistakes" Ward makes, that JDJ keeps talking about? I only see one mistake Ward really makes, which is squaring up in the high guard leaving him open to uppercuts. That's how Boone knocked him down, how Froch got his decent licks in and same with Bika. I don't think Kovalev has a good uppercut though. Fight is 75/25 Ward to me, likely by UD but possibly late stoppage.

Is there a video of JDJ talking about this?

Ward makes mistakes. He's disciplined and consistent, but sometimes he is left out of position (either with his feet or his hand positioning, kind of like you alluded to).

No I don't have one off hand.

Ward does make mistakes, but he typically (ala Floyd and T-Craw) can fix them within the first four rounds. The only repeat mistake and a half I see him make it the using the high guard while adjusting levels. which leaves him open to the uppercut. And sometimes--albeit I see it very rarely, he gets his weight off balance and stands straight up while moving back. Usually he turns out, but I've seen him make the above mistake more. Really no clue beyond that.
