1. At the time I filmed and released the video, it was being reported and widely believed that Froch's retirement was imminent because he couldn't land a money fight. That all happened a day or 2 after my release, and I honestly hadn't considered that Froch-GGG would be a possibility. The names Max threw around at the post fight interview were Cotto and Canelo and Ward, and I included Floyd, too, because there has been so much talk of that here on the forums. 2. Fair enough. I have assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that Ward is hedging his bets now, fighting at a comfortable weight after the long layoff, and that he's in between where he should be able to move up or down afterwards depending on circumstances and opportunities. Did Ward actually say he didn't know if he could make 168, though?
Good stuff, Rummy ! Interesting speculation. The natural choice for GGG would be Cotto, who holds the 'linear' or 'lineal' MW title. Despite GGG being generally recognized as the best MW for over a year now, Cotto holds the linear distinction due to a bold, risky move that paid dividends. He engaged the very damaged Martinez and snatched a linear title, giving him the leverage you mention. The truth, however, is that he is not a top MW. Geale is the best MW he could hope to defeat, and that's not a sure thing. (BTW, why is this being contested at 157 ? There is precedent for a challenger asking for a catchweight when pursuing a title, but has any other champion demanded a catchweight when DEFENDING a title ?) Cotto would almost certainly lose to Quillin, Lee, Murray and GGG. And I don't think he would be favoured over Lemieux, Eubank, Saunders, or even Taylor or Sturm. Even at 154, I think Canelo, Lara, Floyd, Pac and Trout would be favoured over Miguel. So he's unlikely to be interested in facing GGG, unless as a cash out fight, and there are more financially lucrative bouts for a last hurrah. Floyd is unlikely to want GGG as it would be a serious risk to his zero, without commensurate financial reward. If Canelo cannot get a bout with Cotto, he might view a fight with GGG as attractive. It would generate a lot of revenue and both men are about the same size, Canelo being if anything, slightly bigger. Ward is not a fight GGG needs to consider at this time. He has a lot of unfinished business at 160 (Quillin, Cotto, Lee, Taylor, Lemieux, Eubank, Saunders, Sturm...). Ward has pretty much cleaned out 168 and it him who needs to seek challenges outside of his current division. Besides, for GGG, this is the riskiest venture as Ward is head to head, by far the strongest of the names you mentioned. Having become a victim of his own success, I see him fighting lesser names for the foreseeable future.
This video, combined with Pac's naiveté regarding scoring, is the reason he felt he won. He lost. By a clear margin. But I have little doubt he believed he won.
I suppose this should be a Youtube comment and not a forum comment but you should change the angle of your videos, shoot from the elbow up, eye level, use your hands and make the videos under 5 minutes.
The last time Khan fought any top 10 fighter (in any division) he was knocked out. That was 3 years ago, seriously come on, 3 years ago and Khan and his fans think he is deserving, it's delusional. Mayweather Vs Khan shouldn't even be mentioned now, it's not competitive, it's not very big and it will be a real pig to sell to real boxing fans.
After Friday night I am more certain than ever Mayweather would KO Khan. I long suspected that Hunter hadn't improved Khan any and Friday night told me such. He was getting stunned by a feather fisted novice. And as someone said Khan hasn't even fought a ranked contender at 147 and he also has been steered clear of punchers the average KO rate of Khan's opponents under Hunter is an abysmal, pathetic, and sad 45% :roflatsch Khan is protected and coddled. He doesn't deserve a Mayweather fight but if he gets it we will see a highlight reel KO by Mayweather.
beating a shot Collazo and a 140 lber dragged up to WW in Algieri does not make you a prime candidate for a Mayweather fight
You make a good case but I still think that Khan would make Mayweather come out of his comfort zone win lose or draw And while I've been wanting a Khan Mayweather fight for a while, a Cotto fight would hardly be a let down Either fight is good imo Good video as usual
