Rumor: Clottey In Negotiations With Berto After Pw-Pavlik Fallout...

The Dec 5th date should now be re-designated back to either Mosley or Berto or even perhaps a Mosley-Berto showdown.

HBO was so adamant about only approving a big fight for PTP and although Martinez is a worthy opponent, he hardly qualifies as such.

Seems to me that it would be in the best interest for the network, who now has the available funding which stems from the PTP-Pavlik fallout, to use the money to try and force Mosley-Berto on Dec 5th. Funding and scheduling has been the primary objectives in making this fight before year's end and now both problems are no longer viable setbacks.

 

That be a great double header but since Clottey promoter is Bob Arum, it won't happen.

The Dec 5th HBO date now solely belongs to Goossen apparently and he is looking to feature Arreola on the undercard.

The proposed Clottey-Quintana fight is off now that Arum is out of the mix. HBO is still examining if they can feature Clottey in another bout in the near future.

 

So hbo should just cancel the Williams fight all together for Mosley or berto or Mosley vs Berto showdown? lol. Sure Mosley vs Berto style wise would be a very good fight but both don't deserve to be on that date more then Williams. Williams hasn't fought since last april and after that was at first of planning to fight Dzin until Pavlik name came and that fight has been cancel twice in a row once in oct and now in dec. Yes Mosley hasn't fought since Jan but who's fault is that? Mosley had his chance to fight Williams when Williams was available but Mosley didn't have the guts to do it. Ever since that Mosley was crying, desperating for a Cotto, Pacquiao, or Mayweather showdown but since Cotto vs Pacquiao will fight each other and since Mayweather won't fight Mosley it looks like Mosley is stuck without no partner except maybe a Berto showdown. But like i said both Berto and Mosley don't deserve that date on dec more then Williams.

 

Style wise it's Clottey who would give Berto problems in which is why Berto went for another vacate title vs an easier opponent instead of fighting Clottey for the ibf ww championship.

 

i like william/martinez and clottey/quintana... hope it happens.

I thought that the Berto-Mosley fight was signed,Mosley should fight somebody cause with his age being inactive is a terrible thing.

i think berto is a protected fighter. he was protected before collazo but now he will be even more protected after that scare.

 

I assume Clottey might be favorite so i say berto's style would give clottey problems. but seriously.... I may have to take berto if they meet. Berto got great conditioning, he can hit and run and that is nightmare for clottey's style. clottey doesn't throw enough punches and doesn't chase.

 

You thought Mosley vs Berto was signed? lol. See if you weren't too busy posting pictures of Mosley in your walls, you would know already about Mosley vs Berto still hasn't signed to fight each other.

 

I think Clottey will beat Berto even if Berto runs like hell. Clottey will catch up and Berto will have no choice but to fight. Berto barely with an inch of beating Collazo. Clottey imo is a better fighter then Collazo and hits a bit harder.

 

Well i saw an interview with Schaefer on the ring Mag site where he said that an agreement had been reached and that the fight would happen in January,its not my fault that they say one thing today and do a diferent thing tomorrow.

 

Tell me why HBO then was against Williams fighting anyone other than Pavlik and vice versa prior to the announcement of their fight? HBO basically forced the 2 sides to negotiate because the network wasn't willing to back the fighters if they decided to fight lesser draws.

Prior the Williams-Pavlik fight being rescheduled to Dec 5th, that date belonged to either Mosley or Berto. To accommodate Pav-PTP they got bumped to the Dec 26 date which HBO later reneged on.

There was also funding issues stemming from PTP-Pavlik using much of HBO available budget which now has been freed up. Personally I don't think the proposed PTP-Martinez is worthy of that funding. Berto-Collazo 2 stalled because of this reason as did Berto-Mosley.
