If he does indeed take the Dawson fight then he will get tremendous credit from me, win or lose. This is exactly the kind of fight that is good for boxing - an established star (in the UK at least) willing to give a potential star a platform to showcase his talent.

 

If he even signs the fight with Dawson. My Calzaghe hater days are over.

FYI, stop spreading unsubstantiated rumors.

 

Not to start a fuss or anything but as a former hater I have to admit I saw a lot of people say the exact same thing before he signed with Kessler, when he did and WON everything changed and people try to discredit that win as much as they can.

Same thing before fighting Lacy.

 

Dawson is 2 levels above Kessler, and in comparison, Lacy doesnt have a level. This will be by far the toughest opponent of Calzaghes career. I never rated either Lacy or Kessler. I hate those types of fighters. The only time I've chosen sluggers or mechanical fighters over a fast virtuoso was when Pavlik fought Bernard. I'll never make that mistake again.

 

If he signs this fight in my book he def goes up and it will be full credit to him . . . Unlike some other mexican fighter who accuses a great of pissing his pants then goes MIA when the great accepts the bout . . .

This would be great, out of all of his possible opponents I'd like Calzaghe to fight Dawson the most. If he wins it'd be a fine way to finish off his career.

 

Joe I think was lacking confidence early in his career, now that he has beat some good fighters albeit old, shot, and not that good, he has gained alot of self belief. At this point it wouldnt shock me if he takes a fight with dawson for two reason....One he has nothing to lose, he is pretty set in his place in history if he loses the fight with Dawson no one...Or very few would jump him for it. Should he win he would jump a few spots and gain more ATG points. Two It would be a HUGE payday if and only if the fight happens in the UK.

Dawson is younger, unbeaten & holds a victory over Johnson.

If Calzaghe fought & beat Johnson, he still wouldnt be left alone because Dawson is out there unbeaten.... it MUST be Dawson or possibly Hopkins but for entertainment value in his last fight it must be Dawson.
