I love Freddie Roach, but it just confirms what we've all been saying if this is true:

Jermain Taylor is looking for excuses and doesn't 'get it.'

Sad stuff for Taylor. He has all the talent in the world, but it looks like HBO and DiBella ruined him.

Good news for Steward. He'll be able to spend some time with young fighters that listen to him better. I like Taylor as a person and I wish him luck with Roach, but I don't think he will ever evolve from being a fighter that just relies on speed, a good jab, and athleticism to a solid technical fighter with a good defense.

Well . . . let's see how Roach can motivate Taylor and make him execute battle plans. :yep

The problem with Steward is . . . he is trying to change Taylor's fighting style completely and abruptly. You can never do that to any fighter. When crunch time comes fighters relies and goes back to "instincts".

    Yes, I agree.

Roach's training/coaching philosophy is to sharpen up a particular fighters strengths, improve on his weak points and train him to have a 15 round fighter's stamina.

He doesnt try to change a fighter's original style, he just tweaks it a bit.

If Taylor does hook up with Freddie Roach, expect him to essentially fight like he always does, only this time he'll be more busy and more aggressive.

its nothing about steward that was the problem that roach is going to fix.

what taylor needs is a conditioning coach to make him train harder and to increase his stamina .

or perhaps taylor is to stiff in the ring and needs to relax more or to cut down on the weight training.

when taylor had pavlik hurt in the second round , it was taylor that had to iniate clinches against the rocking and reeling pavlik , because taylor was so fatigued.

perhaps the move up in weight will help if the weight making is draining taylor so much

Yeah I agree his conditioning played a huge role in his loss.

Taylor cannot improve his stamina much through harder training. Stamina is as much a matter of talent as any other athletic skill, not just training. Taylor seems to be a natural sprinter with mostly fast twitch muscle fiber that will always fatigue faster. He runs like a typical sprinter, bouncing up and down. Some fast athletes also have great stamina but some don't.

I don't see any Greatness in Taylor's Persona. I don't think Roach can do anything For him to be Great. Pavlik will win again. With Taylor lasting up to rd 10.

good for Taylor, **** Steward. He blames his fighters for everything and thinks he's the god of boxing. **** him, hes not the one taking the punches.

Roach never throws his fighters under the bus, like Steward.

Steward doesn't want to be around with fighters who get knocked out. He usually makes a rapid exit. See Vivian Harris, Jermain Taylor, Fabian Williams and many others. Hearns was an exception of course. :smoke :smoke :rofl :rofl

Steward never said anything about wanting to leave Taylor. So you are jumping to conclusions.

Taylor didn't blame Steward directly. But, in the post fight press conference, he implied that he had a problem with Steward telling him he was losing despite being up on the cards.

Lennox mentioned that Jermain got hit by the straight right because he was not blocking Pavlik's jab. If you don't block/dodge the jab, you eat dangerous right hands, even if your left hand is up. Jermain needs to do more than keep his left hand up to avoid taking a killer 1-2 combo.
