Maybe, but Lorenzo would still be a far far better choice than Vera. Even a guy like McEwan would be much better.

I wouldn't of minded somebody like Lajuan Simon although he's scheduled to fight Dionisio Miranda in the same month. Or David Lopez?

This is form a Lemieux interview

    -----------------------------------------

If he want to take on martinez on short term, Vera will not really help him get there. By the way was he not supposed to fight Rubio in an eliminator bout?

The two promoters are still negotiating. The fight should happen in Feb. or April of 2011.

With an eliminator with Rubio around the corner Vera is a good choice of opponent. Vera won't win the fight but he should finally give Lemieux some rounds, which he could use. I also think Lemieiux could use a step up and Vera isn't it, but Rubio is. Vera is on par with his past 2 opponents and won't ruin Lemeiux's fight with Rubio. Smart fight and good matchmaking here. Fun fight while it lasts, Lemiuex by ko by the middle rounds.

People are not exactly waiting in line to fight David Lemieux. I'm willing to bet Lorenzo is on a long list of people who said "no thank you" when Lemieux's promoter called.

THIS is a really good point. Vera might be a good choice after all.

And Vera after losing so many times have probably said, why not, maybe I can even knock him out with my elbow.

Vera was in training camp to fight Pavlik. He should be in shape and ready.

Vera is a very good choice. As previously said, Lemieux is fighting many times a year and doesn't have very long training camps between his fights. He will fight in December, February and April. After the Rubio fight, he'll have to fight less often.

He should be fighting that hype job Jacobs as I wouldn't mind watching him get iced again.
