Heard from a pretty good source today that talks are ongoing about matching Paul Malignaggi and Lovemore N'dou in a rematch for the IBF super lightweight title on the undercard of Ricky Hatton's return bout in England. The plan would be that should Hatton and Malignaggi win - they would then meet up in September. Trying to get confirmation - but at this time ... only a rumor. The two fighters who met for the championship on the first season of the Contender are planning moves down in weight. Sergio Mora, who lost on a shot in '06 to fight for the middleweight championship of the world because he didnt want to fight Jermain Taylor in Memphis, which he thought would have given him too much a home field advantage, is looking at a possible move down to the 154lb division. Peter Manfredo, who lost to Mora in the Season 1 final, is planning one more fight around the same weight he has been fighting at (I am hearing that Omar Sheika could be next for him) and then looking to break in at middleweight. Yea i don't think the Malignaggi rematch with N'dou would be accepted anywhere else. So that is a very good idea. I agree that Mora and Manfredo should go down especially Manfredo, who looked like he was lifting dumbells when he was throwing punches. Mora's move to 154 might add a little pop to his punches but not that much lol and he would have ALOT of trouble facing a top ten true middleweight.
I Thought mallinaggi said he'd only fight in America. But if its true it will be a great line up and I'M definately getting tickets for it.
I would love to see Mora matched against James Kirkland at 154. Fans finally might get that KO of the Snake they've been craving. ...
A rumor that makes sense anyway. Kind of already got the impression that Hatton vs Malignaggi is coming, or has been seriously considered The winner must deal with the Winner of Witter vs Whoever, if Witter is still their after that point.
I think that Paulie realizes that he doesnt have much say in where he fights. There is still some talk of him fighting in Sicily against Ndou, but they question whether or not the money is really there for it. Hatton-Malignaggi makes sense for a lot of reasons. Its not necessarily a great fight - but it makes sense for both sides. Mike Host, 'Toe2Toe' www.theknockoutnetwork.com
