Romanian`s Boxing Federation President, Rudel Obreja announced on media:

"Interbox works in order to get out from this contract with Showtime. There is already an action in court because you can`t stay endlessly under contract with a television which complicates you, doesn`t let you fight who you want and doesn`t propose you something in exchange either".

Bute-Froch could be a war, FOTY type of match-up and Showtime doesn't want it. Even HBO doesn't want it.

HBO and Showtime has some very boring fights, wino vs. undefeated fighter, etc. Bute Vs. Froch in UK takes balls, something Ward would never do, plus Showtime will not allow Bute to fight Ward, would not allow Bute to fight in tournament, would not make Ward travel like the others.

If you look at my previous posts you will see that I've predicted there will be a lawsuit in this case. BUT... I was certain it will be the other way around, not Interbox suing SHO.
What's Interbox's problem here? Are they pissed off because SHO refuses to air Bute's fights? Hard to believe as you can not force someone to do that.
So there are only two valid scenarios left in this case:
    1) SHO asked Interbox for a considerable amount to drop the contract
    2) Interbox decided to make the first step, knowing for sure that it would have been SHO that sues them

This sounds strange. I don't believe it. Makes no sense given the available information.

Showtime refused him an opponent without giving him another. Also any opponent would not be necessary good for Bute.

Showtime is not a promotor and cannot 'give' an opponent. Showtime has a contract that likely gives them the right to air a particular fight or just say no. Since they allegedly pays 2M a fight they want to make sure that the fight is appealing to their audience.

Why they think Bute-Froch is unappealing is beyond me, but that's beside the point.

Interbox must provide Bute an opponent to Showtimes liking to ensure the payment of the 2M.

obviously they made the contract to ensure no brian magee or jesse brinkey type fights thats suck...but to not accept this without even a counter opponent doesnt sound right but maybe showtimes logic is froch has lost 2 out of his last 4, but that doesnt really sound terrible when it was to ward and kessler in 12 round losses.
who knows...typical crap from somewhere in the boxing world

i think that was his point...they cant give you an opponent but they can give you a name that they wont veto

If they give Ward and Dirrell than it was a mockery, because Ward clearly said he doesn't want Bute, and Dirrell clearly said he would not fight Bute in Canada. I the first case a fight is impossible, it takes two to tango. In the second Case Bute was loosing money and not gaining as much prestige as he gets from Froch, also he was forced to travel to fight an challenger who hasn't proved much in the ring. His best win is a win by DQ where he was Ko'ed, against a not much of a SMW.

I will not dispute what you say, I'm just trying to explain what Showtime probably is thinking.

What you say makes sense only in a "contract free enviroment" :).
If Interbox was stupid enough to sign a contract that states otherwise than they should suffer the wrath of law :D.
