Exactly what Showtime deserves for signing him to a ridiculously dumb contract.

I could play stupid, but I'm sure I'd lose badly to you.

Some "official" this Rudel Obreja guy is. He got banned from AIBA for 5 years and got Romania kicked out of AIBA, Romania can't compete in Euro/World/Olympic games now. Corruption and incompetence hard at work, way to go!

The guy can't even preside over his own organization within the law, yet he wants to give "declarations" on legal matters he has no place in.

What has one with the other? The man has some inside information.

And if you know some things, Romanian Boxing Federation won already two trials against AIBA in TAS (Sportiv Cases Court which is in Lausanne) showing international amateur boxing is corrupt.(much more than the professional one).So the Romanian boxers will very probable be received again in the amateurs competitions.

    Wow.

I could spend 5 minutes schooling your ass on why Bute's resume is better than Dirrell's, but I just got to work and am teaching in 15.

Your statement about Johnson is pretty funny too. :deal

Put a stop to the fight is what it was. You should research the topic before talking out of your ass TBH. Goosen was offered the fight by Bedard on Dec 19th and turned it down because he "wanted an easier homecoming fight for Andre".

Come on KO Kidd. Do you really believe that?

Yes, let's hope the financially unproven, questionably made up fighter knocks off the proven money maker.....because he is American.

I think that there is a power play going on here between Showtime and the fighters. Bute is under contract to Showtime, who either want him to extend, or fight his next fight without it affecting his contractual status.

I know Ward has mentioned Dirrell, but has Showtime?

They want the Ward fight. Whom they hold an option over.

To me, it seems Ward and Bute want their fight to be clear of any contractual obligations so they can shop it.

Excuse me for pointing this out,but would not this be a huge conflict of interest?Being the head of a boxing organization of a country and co-promoting a fellow countryman(not to mention having a financial interest in the bout)?
Oh,I forgot this is Bute we are talking about.:-(

Sure , this is the very fist time a huge conflict of interest occurs in boxing. I agree is bad and Mr. Obreja should attend the needs of romanian amateur boxers.
But he's acting like a politician; yeah, i know that absolutely new in the proffesional boxing area

Leon Lawson can't put a boxing card together. Out goes Dirrell, who won't fight Bute in Canada for hundreds of G's.

Espinoza was in conflict of interest trying to shove Hopkins to Interbox as Bute's next opponent, since he was a GBP lawyer not long ago.

Froch is a top 5 SMW, who "wasn't outclassed by Ward" in his own words. :good

Just so people get up to date as of why INTERBOX has decided to sue SHOWTIME :

When Interbox signed a 3 fight deal with Showtime, they were given a list of opponents that Showtime allowed Bute to meet if he wanted to get those fights aired and cash in $2million for each of those.

Carl Froch was obviously on that list at the momnet of the contract being signed, therefore Showtime is right now not respecting their end of the bargain by not keeping their word on that list, as Froch is now denied as a fighter.

Why is Froch not appealing for Showtime ? It has nothing to do with Froch not being a good sale in the US since Froch has now made a name and is more known than Bute anyways. It actually has much more to do with Showtime's new boss having a close relationship with Golden Boy Promotions, as he was with them at some point, hence why the names being pushed on Bute were Hopkins, Dirrell & .......believe it or not.....yes Andrade once again. It's isn't clear yet, but it seems like GBP may also be around Dirrell from now on, but that's not something I am 100% sure of.

All in all, Showtime may feel like they have a right to air the fights they demand, but on the other hand, they can't all of a sudden reject part of the initial contract which was signed by both parties and allowed for Bute to face any acceptable name, which so happened to include CARL FROCH !

Good post Pasky. I thought JL Legendre had said Froch was NOT on that list?!

...regardless. Showtime trying to shove Andrade III up Interbox's ass because he's with GBP, is totally disgusting.

    Bute-Ward on HBO, December 2012. Please. :D
