I've heard it was more widespread than that(The Goosen thing). I heard that the other promoters balked as well. But is it all true?

And not that I'm doubting you, but I think at this point it was is merely an allegation as opposed to being a widely known fact, right? Unless there is more to it than I've heard, which is certainly possible.

Anyway, it would take some time for a Ward- Dirrell fight to reach the level of interest that Ward-Bute would generate now. why would Showtime commit to that? Why wouldn't they build up Dirrell in the meantime with designs to take on the eventual winner of Ward-Bute? That would be a win-win-win for them.

I just don't think Showtime would intentionally shoot themselves in the foot with one of the biggest SMW fights of all time waiting in the wings. It all makes sense if they are trying to bag this fight on their own terms, at least to me. Who knows, but it's fun to talk about.

The loser or the finalist? He paid previous losers in fights. You have no arguments at that.Showtime reserved his option for Ward-Bute.They proposed him a supplementary fight deal , 10 mil per another three fights. If Bute would have been accepted, they WOULD HAVE AIRED Froch -Bute.To lose in final is worse than being KO`ed home in US like Taylor?

The problem is Bute , at 32, can`t afford to stay more with Showtime.

Regarding the television, stay cool, English network Sky will probably air the fight. It`s heard Bute`s purse will be over 3 mil euro which is more than any offer from Showtime.

The World doesn`t begin and doesn`t end with you, Americans.

And as a lot of your comaptriots will want to see the fight, as some already mentioned here, guess who will stay on the internet.

...and they had actual numbers? 10M / 3 fights on SHO, and 3M Eur to fight Froch? Seriously?

Now over at the Scene, Showtime is considering Pascal-Erdei & Taylor-Alcine for April 14th.

Could this be the reason why Bute-Froch for April 14th in Montreal was an issue? As in, have they been giving higher priority to JT all along?

This tells me Yvon Michel HAS booked the Bell Centre for April 14th, the date Interbox was looking at for Bute's next fight.

...maybe a remote confirmation that Bute will be travelling to the UK for the Froch fight?

The old number was for Showtime offer.

The purse, and only for a fight in England is current news .The magnitude of the amount is interpreted as an "greater interest in England than in Canada for this fight".

Very good observation. If you translate the link above you`d see Showtime proposed even Pascal-Bute.So the Romanian news seems to be liable.
