I heard GGG has agreed to the offer but Canelo backed out for whatever reason.

You sure Canelo got $15 million for Cotto? I thought it was $5-$7 million.

Very dumb thought, no fighter would ever do that, injuries happen.. even when they don't your promoter can convince enough morons to sell you more garbage ppv bombs

I read multiple reports that cotto got 10m+ and canelo was the American side, so would think 15m+ for the bigger draw and better fighter. .

Had to add it that second fact because this site loathes facts

It isn't just good: for Golovkin, getting to fight Canelo at 160 -- if Golovkin accepts the $2 million offer -- is too good to be true.

I think Oscar and Canelo are privately hoping Golovkin will reject the offer and haggle for more money, thereby giving credence to the view that GGG is ducking Canelo.

The danger of this is, should Golovkin and his team hold out for more money (say, $4 million), Canelo and Golden Boy would grant the request -- on the proviso that the fight will no longer be at 160, but at 155 or 156.

If Golovkin wants to fight Canelo so bad, and he and his team are SMART, he should call Canelo's bluff and accept the $2 million offer, point blank. Upon doing so, Canelo will be backed into a corner -- a corner from which the only way out for him will be to agree to fight Golovkin.

if Canelo did drop the belt to duck Gennady old El Pollo would get kicked out of Mexico. The proud Mexican fight fans have no time for cowards . If & when Gennady does get El Pollo in the ring he'll make him lay half a dozen eggs before knocking him out:hi:

canelo should just leave ggg alone for now if he wants to become a "star." wait 'til ggg degrades in about 4-5 years.

If true...GGG should accept the 2 mil guarantee, but, maybe sacrifice a couple of lbs in exchange for some of the PPV proceeds. Weight is really the only negotiating leverage he has.

So canelo only fighting if he gets paid is not looking for pay days ??!!

This offer is ridiculous and has been made as he has no interest in the fight, this should be a 50 / 50 split but 60 / 40 Canelo is acceptable as he is the bigger draw.

Canelo making potentially 10 times more is a joke though.

Canelo is looking for paydays too... But between the two, the one trying to break super s****om is Golovkin. 50/50? Everybody says that when they don't know what to split lol

Golovkin claims his number goal is to unify, he needs the fight more than Canelo. Counter or accept a low offer, whoop Canelo's ass, then make that money. OR, he can continue to slowly work his way up and use his popularity as a bargaining chip.
