Steward said at the end of the fight against Clottey that he pretty much fell in love with Cotto (no pun intended). Cotto has a great jab, maybe thats what made Steward fall in love with him. Cotto and Steward - I'm all up for it...

I think it's a good fit for him.

He will teach Cotto some fundamentals that would have helped him beat Margarito, and beat Clottey more convincingly.

Like avoiding the uppercut, clinching when absolutely necessary, and stepping on the gas when you have someone backed into a corner for two minutes.

Steward is a great trainer but Cotto needs someone like Shields, Birmingham or Mustafa Muhammad, they have alot of experience with cotto's style fighters.

IMO floyd sr is overrated, unca roger is the best trainer in the mayweather family.

Not a good choice. Steward trains tall fighters best and Cotto isn't tall enough in his division.

What about the other Mayweather brother, not Roger or Floyd Sr. I forgot his name.

Cotto needs a real trainer, like what has been said before, he needs to move his head and correct his openness to the upper cut. Personally I think Ronnie Shields could take Cotto to his peak, assuming he has already hit that peak.

Simple. He can keep the peek-a-boo defense but he needs to tighten up his elbows and forearms. Cotto is pretty good at keeping his hands up, but his elbows tend to be too far away from his body. This sets him up for body shots to the breadbasket and uppercuts. Clottey fight case in point - he got hit with several of each of these punches....

Jeff Mayweather does not have what it takes to take Cotto to the next level, in my opinion...

Jeff Mayweather? Jeff works well from a technical standpoint but I think with a fighter like Cotto, he wouldn't be able to deal well with it.

Manny Steward is actually really good. Manny is one of those star chasers who'll jump to whatever fighter he can get his hands on...but a fighter like Cotto fits what he's looking for. Athletic with a strong jab, a good right hand and a solid work ethic.

Not only that but he's got weaknesses and if Manny fixes them, he becomes a genius again.
