Neither has great hand or footspeed or lateral movement and along with both guys styles and attitude it would lend itself towards being very exciting. Pavlik's offensive skills get praise but his defensive skills are very underrated by most imo and he would have a clear edge in both vs Froch (assuming he isn't a complete shell of his former self)

Another poster said they saw Pavlik coming forward in the fight and thats how i see it too. Pavlik being the aggressor like Kessler did and Froch trying to box like he did in Kessler/Johnson.

Pavlik was never anything special and now he's shot. Boring.

Yes, and thanks, but as I mentioned earlier I am also a Froch fan. I just can't understand how so many are writing Kelly off in this match-up. If Kelly is focused, Froch would get hurt.

I almost started a thread on this after the Ward fight. I don't know how he got away with the hand down for so long because he doesn't have the speed to back it up. Think he learned his lesson or is that too much a part of his style now to change. It seems to be his comfort zone.

I think this is a wonderful idea.
However I suspect Froch would put a painful beatdown on Kelly.
I feel quite sorry for Pavlik but I've always felt he's a tad overrated and I just don't see anyone coming back from the depths that he's been to.
I'd pick Garcia pulling Kelly out despite vehement protests very late.

Like other posters have said no way Pavlik fights Froch with out at least one tune up fight. Unless he plans on cashing out.

A fully committed Pavlik can be better then even when he beat Taylor. That would give any fighter around his weight a serious challenge. He may or may not have that kind of drive for boxing anymore and only time will tell.

One thing for certain a few years of heavy drinking does not ruin a man before he is 30, espesially one as strong as Kelly. Pavlik still has all the ability he had he just has to train hard to get to that point or beyond.he can easily have a few new tricks up his sleve a year or two from now.

Aside from Hopkins beating Pavlik to a pulp at 170 pounds and Sergio winning an 8-4 UD while getting KD'd against Pavlik, when did Pavlik become some kind of a bum? I agree he looked real bad against Lopez, but he still won, what, 7 of the 10 rounds for sure? I don't know man, as much as logic says Froch wins, for whatever reason I'd stick my neck on the line and say narrow Pavlik decision or a robbery in which Pavlik deserved.

And the way the fight was headed, Lopez would not have seen a 12th .

Lopez is a B level fighter at his very best.

Pavlik has had months of alcohol abuse on top of what he had then and there's also alot of doubt that Robert Garcia is a good mesh with Kelly Pavlik.
