You got that right, but that wasn't what I was addressing. I was addressing the fact that Fighters Fight, Judges Judge. The two are in no way connected. And this isn't just in regard to Canelo. Take Wilder Fury. Is D Wilder to blame for the judge scoring the fight wide in favor of him? Of course not, he has zero to do with what that judge did. The difference between me and a lot of posters on here is that I don't take the easy way out when there's a bad decision by blindly claiming corruption particularly when a fighter you like loses a decision. I take a very practical view of this kind of a situation. The judge came to the score on their own. Now could there have been influences going into the fight that affected the score? Possibly, but we don't know that. To be the best judge you could possibly be, it's probably a good idea to isolate yourself from other boxing influences (fans, media, promoters, etc) particularly as the fight you are judging approaches. You know how jurors in big court cases are supposed to completely have no contact with the rest of the world during the case? I'm not saying it has to be that strict for boxing judges but I do think some judges would benefit from that kind of isolation surrounding a fight so you don't go into the match with any bias. The whole idea of corruption I think is misplaced, but there are problems in the sport like any sport. Lets take American Football, the NFL, for example. A lot of fans think the sport is rigged for the Pats to win. Now do you believe that Roger Goodell gets into a room before the Super Bowl and tells the refs to ensure that the Pats win the game? Do you really believe that kind of stuff happens? What I'm getting at is that fans constantly go to extremes when controversial stuff happens in sports, and constantly jump to conclusions that it's due to corruption. In the NFL, like I don't know if it's truly rigged for the Pats to win, or scripted like the WWE, I am inclined to believe that those in charge of the NFL conscientiously try to prevent themselves from scripting anything that happens on the field, as far as who wins the game. Probably because of how immoral it is inherently and how hard that would be to pull off. But what they do is that they tinker with the rules which has an affect on the sport and some rule changes may benefit certain teams who play with a certain style that the rule change helps. I think it's similar in boxing though the structure is very different. Promoters and those connected to the sport of boxing find themselves in a balancing act to not want to say the wrong thing, to not want to do anything that could get them in trouble. But I want to be clear that the NFL may not actively be scripting its games, but that doesn't mean that everything's hunky dory in the NFL. The NFL has implemented some of the craziest rule changes I've ever seen, all under the guise of player safety, they've made rule changes that don't even improve player safety but just mess up the sport. So that to me is corrupt in the sense that they have messed up the sport in many ways by making stupid rule changes. But it's not corrupt like they are trying to rig it so Team A wins a Super Bowl. There's a fundamental difference there. I find it hard to believe that those who run sports are not well-intentioned. You don't have to be ill-intentioned to mess sports up and if you're a boxing promoter lets say you don't need to be ill-intentioned to fight for your fighter or even test the limits of how you think you can better your fighter. But for so many fans to assume that promoters can get away with crossing all kinds of lines to rig matches, or pay off judges, for the most part, these fans are incredibly delusional. Judges do not want to compromise their job by taking brides. They sign contracts that prohibit them from engaging in those kind of activities and if they are caught taking brides or something like that they could lose everything. But if you read some of the posters on here, they act like it happens all the time while claiming corruption. It's nonsensical to be that gullible. Now I know that a lot of fans, especially those that aren't Pats fans, literally believe that the NFL is rigging games for the Pats to win. That's kind of like believing that Oscar De La Hoya paid off the judges or that D Wilder and his promoter paid off the judge that had him winning. I have a hard time believing that these kind of things happen as there are so many people that would have to be in on it and with all the scandals in the news it would be too much of a risk to even attempt to rig something, because all you need is one person to find out about it that isn't in the know and you know it would end up in the news and out of your position. Now I'm not saying that you could have a promoter that might be friends with a judge, and that's why there's a process to appointing judges. When judges are selected the commisions appoints judges and then each fighter's team has an opportunity to approve or decline the judges. If either side feels that the judges are close friends with the opponent's promoter, they can simply not agree to the fight or demand another judge. Those who blindly claim corruption on here like when their favorite fighter loses or blames the fighter or their promoter for judges cards really do not understand how boxing works. It's important that we keep sports like Boxing and NFL merit based in terms of results and who wins and who loses, and not scripted or rigged like WWE. That's not to say we have to agree with the process of what determines winners and losers, but we do need to understand it and not act like it's something other than what it is. Far too often we have posters on here claiming corruption or some grand conspiracy when there's an outlier judge and just out of anger or madness, knee-jerk corruption assumptions get made maybe because it makes posters feel better about themselves, and they just refuse to use reason to understand what happened and why it happened. Worse yet is blaming the fighter for having close fights and in Canelo's case, blaming him for winning some close fights against good fighters. Not only is that disrespectful to the fighter who's dedicated their life to put on the kind of performance that shoud be applauded instead we have fans who like to detract from what happened just to voice their conspiracies aimed at discrediting fighters who earn victories.
Since it's a well-known problem in Mexico shouldn't millionaire Canelo's personal team of nutritionists and chefs make sure he doesn't eat anything that could cause serious harm to his future career? Sergey is innocent until proven guilty but Canelo was already found guilty on all charges! There has been zero controversy and suspicious activities surrounding Canelo. Ok back to the Canelo la la land lmfao. And what do you mean Gennady handled the situation poorly: This content is protected
Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to look back now and say he should have made sure all his meals were prepared by personal chefs. I guess the only way to be sure you won't test for clenbuterol when in Mexico is to not eat meat at all, which according to De La Hoya, Canelo doesn't eat when he's in training. He got randomly drug tested before he had even started training camp while he was still eating meat. I don't disagree with what you're saying, I just don't think we know enough about the situation to judge Canelo for what happened when he lives in a country with a well known meat contamination problem. Canelo wasn't found guilty of any charges nor was he charged with anything. You're trying to compare testing for trace amounts of clenbuterol with a strong meat contamination possibility vs being accused of punching a woman in the face and kicking her dog. They are two completely different situations, one is justifiable the other isn't. We don't know if Kovalev is innocent or guilty of what he was accused of but in terms of which fighter is walking around with more controversey hanging over their head right now, there's really no comparison. Society is much less tolerant of someone who punches a woman in the face than somebody who tested positive for a substance as a result of accidental meat contamination. At this point neither have been proven guilty of any wrongdoing but what Kovalev was accused of is much worse obviously. Isn't it funny that you're using catch phrases that I made famous around here. As far as Gennady handling the situation poorly, I was mainly referring to deciding to fight Vanes which caused him to have to vacate his title for not fighting his mandatory. I get that he wanted to have a fight, but it was not a smart decision if he wanted to keep his title and fight Canelo in September. After all wasn't GGG all about the belts lol. It was pretty stupid of GGG's team to fight Vanes as a voluntary without consulting the IBF as to what the consequences of that would be. Maybe that's one of the reasons why Loeffler is no longer negotiating on GGG's behalf anymore. And that link of Loeffler bringing out a fake Canelo, that was pretty stupid too, considering a month later Canelo whopped GGG Mexican Style and took the rest of GGG's titles. "Give me my belt" "Where are my belts" lmfao
